That is one beautiful vehicle my friend. I hope you get AT LEAST Ten years of good service out of it.
Props to you also for buying American. I want a Volt in the worst way.... |

37. It should last longer than 10 years.
|
I've kept my American cars for 13 years or more and I only got rid of them then because I selfishly wanted a newer vehicle. There was technically nothing wrong with the car.

|
Last edited Sat Apr 14, 2012, 10:15 PM USA/ET - Edit history (1) And that was only because the mechanic who replaced my fuel pump didn't put all the bolts back in when he put the gas tank back on. My van collected dirt and sand which got into the gas tank, anda the fuel line causing problems. But by the time we figured out what was causing my van to stall out, the sand got into the engine and totalled it.
Or I might still have been driving it. edited for clarity (I'd left out a couple of important words) |

11. Crystal Red Tintcoat
|
My car was a demonstrator so when I tested it the car was dusty and had a bunch of decals on it. I decided I wanted something that was not gray or silver. My last three cars were some shade of gray or sliver. I wanted a change so I told them I wanted this red color. They were going to originally find another car from another dealer, but Chevy told the dealer to go ahead and sell the demonstrator to me. I had the dealer take the decals off. So I didn't actually take delivery until today. I was amazed because the car looked a lot better freshly washed and with the decals off.

Would have preferred the Traverse Berry name, due to the fabulous festivals in Northern Michigan celebrating the berry and the color.
But they didn't ask me. Too bad, but a GREAT car --- enjoy. |

Botanically incorrect here --- the cherry is a fruit and perhaps not a "berry" .
You still have a wonderful transport. |

10. It's a sophisticated piece of engineering.
|
I just realized the dots on the rear bumper are for sensing objects. The car beeps at you when you get too close. And one weird quirk was rear passengers not being able to get out. We had to figure out how to change that from the drivers side door lock control. It freaked a few of us out, not being able to get out of the car.
The thing even has it's own phone number. Congrats. |

My last car (a Fusion) had backup sensors but not a camera. The backup camera is useful but I'm not sure I want to get into the habit of relying on it too much.

39. It was OK
|
They do get decent gas mileage, around 25 town 30 highway. Even higher if one is out on a highway that is nice and flat for an extended period. One problem I had since early on though is that gravel and other debris would get up inside the wheel and make really bad scraping noises. Dealer never seemed able to fix the problem once and for all. Never had that with other vehicles. So I'm thinking it wasn't designed for people living in the country.

|
Seriously, it's a great car. Much better than the Beemer he had that broke down every other month.
He doesn't have the camera, just the back-up beeps. He has the full control cell onboard. He adores it. He had a Ford truck until I got pregnant and then bought the BMW sedan because, A. He always wanted one and B. We couldn't cart the baby around on jump seats (A being more equal than B. LOL). That Beemer was CRAP. In the shop 18 times in 3 years. My Ford has never been to the shop other than the body shop when I was rear-ended. BTW, I wouldn't have cared if he bought a Chevy. I'm an American car gal. I think we shouldn't have decals of Calvin pissing on bow-ties and ovals... we should have Calvin pissing on that Toyota oval thing and the Honda "H" and so forth. |

I really only glance at it when i switch to reverse to make sure there are no little ones around then turn around and back up normally. Good to hear the volt has one too! We were going to get another Prius after my hubby sells his car but a friend of his just got a black volt and now he wants one too.

No, they just suspended production for a few weeks. They're also planning to do that again this summer for a while but may cancel if sales keep up.
I haven't had too much of a chance to drive it yet so we'll have to see. I've only had the car for a day now. Hopefully I won't have to fuel it as much as I did with pure gasoline cars. I'll find out in the weeks ahead as I do drive more than a lot of people for my work. |

Dubuque's averages for Jun-Aug are for temps higher than 80 and rainfall between 4-5". With climate change it's a cinch you'll see temps higher than that and maybe more rainfall as well.

and angry is that if chevy marketed the volt in 2008 when we bought our last car I would be much happier today. I opted for a stupid c class MB of which I have 4 more payments to make and the car will probably last me at this rate 20 more years
Nothing and I mean nothing is better in life than taking delivery on a new car. Good luck 47! |
