Focus On The Family - Religious Freedom Amendment In Colorado - Would Unleash Mayhem

Besides facing a personhood amendment for the third time in 6 years Colorado faces a new amendment that Focus On The Family is sponsoring. I do not have the exact language but it will supposedly say " that government will pass no legislation that interferes with a person's conscience or exercise of their religion". This amendment to the Colorado constitution would be very bad. That would be because it could open up all manner of madness. The amendment is so ambiguous that any religious practice could be sheltered from legal remedies no matter how crazy it was.

Theoretically it would make honor killing legal, denying medical care over faith based healing, open up discrimination based on one's religion, make prayer in schools legal, minor forced marriage would become legal, etc, etc. Just use your imagination with what such an amendment would allow is such an amendment to a constitution were passed.

So if your religion allows human sacrifice it could be legal under the language in the amendment.

Enough is enough already. How many times do we have to picket and protest and for chrissake we've been telling them to focus on their own damn families for years and they still will. not. stop. trying to control the govt.

It's Wyoming's turn to have them.

They can have their own theocracy there and no-one will care.

Just make it extremely expensive to move around so they are limited.

magic mushrooms if they're part of your religion. Bet they didn't think about that.

These morans need to be reminded that this is a CIVIL society, and not a religious one. But trying to explain that to these hammerheads is like trying to teach the cat calculus. You ain't gonna get far.

headed by that evil little creep James Dobson. I never pass up an opportunity to post that Dobson was suckered by Ted Bundy while Bundy was on death row. They concluded together that Bundy's problems started when he viewed pornography earlier in his life. I kept the tape of the interview as an example of how gullible these right wingers are.

Oh, and I also never pass up a chance to call Dobson an evil little creep.

in one of Dobson's books he advocates fathers and sons showering together so that the boy can see why the father is in charge. Who did he interview for that perspective, Sandusky?

I always hated crossing El Paso County borderline and seeing Ronald Reagan Highway. It's bad enough that FotF is based there, but they have to corrupt a part of the I-25 to praise their Republican Jesus (who, by the way, would be considered liberal now)

When I see this, it's going to get a HELL NO from me. I'll even organize a petition barring stupid religious bullshit from being considered by the voters - separation of church and state are absolute - if the religious crap begins there, it's way past time to tax the churches, the right-wing fuckwit organizations to the maximum and penalize 50 years of back pays...

"religious freedom" legislation, you can bet your ass they mean only their own religion. They are looking for a way to shove their particular brand down the throats of everyone in their area, and do so without restraint of that pesky document called a constitution.

C'mon, don't tell me the left can't out-crazy these guys if we put our minds to it.
