I am truly pissed off at Obama and the dems over the Hillary Rosen/Ann Romney thing

and this piece says it better than I could.

Hilary Rosen Was Right: Ann Romney Is Out of Touch with Most Women

The strangest, and most disheartening thing about the Twitter firestorm that erupted this week after Democratic strategist Hilary Rosen pointedly questioned Ann Romney’s fitness to serve as her husband’s ambassador on women’s economic issues was the speed with which her own party rushed to denounce her. Noting to CNN’s Anderson Cooper that Romney — a daughter of privilege who became wealthier still while married to Mitt — had “never worked a day in her life,” Rosen voiced the suggestion that she was, perhaps, less than ideally suited for relaying the financial worries and stresses of most American women to her husband’s presidential campaign. “She’s never really dealt with the kinds of economic issues that a majority of the women in this country are facing, in terms of how do we feed our kids, how do we send them to school, and why do we worry about their future,” Rosen said.

Republicans counterattacked, as to be expected. But Democratic Rosen-bashing was every bit as vigorous.

Democratic strategist David Axelrod called Rosen’s words “inappropriate and offensive.”

Obama campaign manager Jim Messina tweeted: “She should apologize.”

3. They fucking squandered an opportunity to play up the difference between

US and THEM -- most of us don't have the choice.

What is wrong with these people? They're so brilliant in some areas, yet just crumble when something like this occurs.

20. Yup. They should have backed her up. She was 100% right.

I am sick of the spineless backing down, hand-wringing and apologizing the Dems perform anytime the gop gets up on their hind legs and acts 'outraged'...

Hilary Rosen was 100% correct in EVERYTHING she said. And those sackless Dems asking her to apologize need to explain WHY they think she needs to..

29. because it is a trap, gately. We always do this. We think we can make the better argument

because we have facts, we have evidence, yadda, yadda.

Look at what happened to John Kerry. A true war hero. Look what the REthugs did to him! And they got away with it. We were left sputtering about how "right" we were!

I think that Obama can and will handle this by not going over the Rosen remark but by emphasizing his contributions to women's lives, describing the good things that have and will happen because his admin did the right thing. Then he can turn to the Republicans record and recite it. The contrast will be made but it will be out of the Rosen remark context. That's the way to handle this, IMO. It's better to make our case separately than debate on their grounds.

4. She's out of touch

She's a spoiled millionaire, and she has had more opportunity than most men and women in this country to do whatever she wants simply because of wealth.

Republicans want to make hay over this, and claim that Obama hates women to deflect their proven legislation that acts against the well-being of women in this nation. We don't even need to let this happen. There is one party that is anti-women, and it is the GOP. When Democratic legislators start introducing bills that ban birth control, abortion and generally interfere with a woman and her doctor, I'll believe that it's both sides.

As it stands? False equivalency - the GOP is the anti-woman party, not the Democratic party, and I'll call anyone who says so on it expressly.

8. You are barking at the wrong horse.....

which is unfortunate for you.....
because you have decided to blame
the wrong folks.....

This is a case of death by association like Bill Ayers was to Barack Obama....
the media will not let it go, and they want you, in the end, to Blame Obama....
since you are doing so from the beginning, they thank you for that. It means
that the media did a good job manipulating your reaction. Congrats!

I doubt if 10% of the population knows who Bill Ayers is.

Women are 52% of the presidential voters in this country and your "media did a good job manipulating" is just silly.

You see, like Ann Romney, we all have choices as to who we choose to blame.
You have chosen to blame Obama, and I have chosen to blame those who
would put out a phony controversy and hope we Blame Obama.

34. you're absolutely right on this

phony controversy and the President was correct in removing Romney's wife as some political target of his. She never was and shouldn't be a political target of anyone, as Axelrod said today.

I'm glad we didn't take the bait. This isn't about anything than feeding their party's rabid, ignorant base. No need to throw anymore raw meat on the fire. Let them cook in their own gender-baiting stew.

40. I hate the way you dismissed Frenchie's opinion here

. . . based on your own bias against positions taken in support of this President. It's enough to just disagree with folks (if that's how you feel) and move on without questioning their sincerity and candor. I was thinking 'parody' and 'pathetic' but not of Frenchie's post, but your own little diatribe.

I think you're outraged at the wrong folks, as well. The Romney campaign, cynically and amateurishly, want us to spend time defending or talking about this woman. It'll serve to illustrate their notion that there's some equivalency between their anti-woman platform and rhetoric, and this on supporter's personal view. I'm glad we stood Ms. Romney back up -- just so she can fall under the weight of her husband's own bullshit, rather than made into a distraction from their record and positions.

35. Best to let this die down and go away

The more people discuss it, the more the media wants to talk about it and control the narrative.

I believe the administration did the right thing by distancing themselves and removing themselves from the comment. That is how you get it to pass, but blaming the administration for not sticking it out and fighting for her comments is just media manipulation in the end like you say. At least that is my take.

This too shall pass. If we let it.

we see by our elected Dems. It is some kind of 'false guilt' the M$M has fostered onto their shoulders with the coordination of the Grand Old Party.

It's not up to the President to make this fight. It's up to his supporters. I ultimately think this is a win for us, as almost all woman know that Ann Romney hasn't had to make any hard choices or do any hard work in her entire life. It doesn't matter what the President or Democrats said.

Romney is a liar, and this is his attempt to distract from his lies and extremist positions.

The less dragged out these things are the better it is. It is a false debate anyway. Can we get back to how Repubs hate women and are trying to pass all kinds of ugly laws against women in various states? And we can get back to how Repubs serve only the 1%. Move on with the business at hand.

Let Ann go around yammering about her horse in every port and Mitt talking about her "couple of Cadillacs." Eventually, they will step in it again. There will be more and more stories about the car elevator and some new revelations about one or more of their homes (how 'bout a photo spread in House and Garden?!). Maybe it will turn out that she was a Debutante and there will be a photo of her at the Debutante Ball, when she came out and curtsied in her ball gown for the glittering, affluent attendees. Or something. We should think of the possibilities...

You have one rich woman excoriating another richer woman while the White House can't figure out what to do so they take the safe route and actually stand up for one of them.

Neither of those women have any fucking idea what the average american mom is dealing with.

I think if I have to take sides here I'll take the side of the moms who don't get to go on TV. The moms who spent their day juggling the few pennies they had to make ends meet this week.

And talking about how "housewifery" is "work".

They all sound so coached and TONE DEAF:

Dems: Women have gotten beyond this. We work. We REALLY work.

Most of us have to worry about paying the mortgage with our earned
money, not to mention the threat of losing that job, AND our health
care with it.
