Rick Perry is a really stupid man even by ReTHUG standards

http://www.theguardian.com/world/2014/sep/21/rick-perry-joan-rivers-texas-abortion-laws
<snip>
Texas governor Rick Perry has suggested that the comedian Joan Rivers might not have died during a routine medical procedure had the New York outpatient clinic treating her been subject to the same kind of stringent standards required by Texas’s controversial new abortion laws.

“It was interesting that when Joan Rivers, and the procedure that she had done, where she died – that was a clinic. And I’m just – it’s a curious thought that if they had had that type of regulations in place, whether or not that individual would be still alive,” Perry said on Sunday in response to a question from an audience member during a keynote session at the Texas Tribune Festival in Austin.

Despite Perry’s comment appearing to advocate for such centres, Rivers was treated at a facility which has been described as an ambulatory surgical centre. The circumstances of her death are still mired in uncertainty, claims and counter-claims.

Sounding subdued earlier in the session, Perry declined to comment on his indictment by a grand jury last month on abuse of power charges related to his threat to veto funding for a public integrity unit, or his decision that Texas taxpayers would part-fund his legal defence.

in the state of Texas after a major disaster

http://thinkprogress.org/economy/2014/04/17/3428069/west-texas-explosion-regulations/
<snip>
A year after a fertilizer plant exploded in West, Texas, no new regulations have even been filed, let alone passed, according to the Texas Tribune. It
quotes State Rep. Joe Pickett (D) confirming that “there were none.”

On the evening of April 17, 2013, something started a fire in a seed room at West Fertilizer Co., and eventually 28 to 34 tons of ammonium nitrate exploded with the power of 15,000 to 20,000 pounds of TNT, killing 15 people and injuring hundreds. Authorities have still not determined the cause of the fire, nor have they determined if regulatory agencies failed to prevent the accident.

But it is clear that while the plant touched many different agencies, there was no single one in charge of regulating the chemicals it had stored, nor were they required to coordinate with each other. At the federal level, the plant hadn’t been inspected by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration since 1985, and the last time it had fined the company was for $30 for a serious violation for storing anhydrous ammonia. It was last inspected by the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration in 2011, when it was issued a $10,100 fine for missing placards, transporting anhydrous ammonia in non-specification tanks, and “not having a security plan,” although the plant took corrective action and paid a lower fine. The Environmental Protection Agency issued a $2,300 fine in 2006 for its failure to have a risk management plan that met federal standards, but its report claimed that the plant posed no fire or explosive risk. Although fertilizer facilities are required to report to the Department of Homeless Security (DHS) if they have more than 400 pounds of ammonium nitrate, and West Fertilizer had 270 tons, it failed to do so.

Now we have that part taken care of, there are surgical clinics in Texas, but Texas enacted laws which only pertain to abortion clinics, did he set the same standard for surgical clinics as he did for abortion clinics, hell no, then it could result the same in Texas as NY. Sometimes it is better to shut your mouth rather than show how stupid you are. Presidential material, nope, never.

Her procedure is just as regulated in Texas as NY I assume. Is that correct? Is Perry claiming all out patient surgeries in Texas are regulated the same as abortion clinics? Smoke and mirrors.
