Rotten to the core...

No, I'm not talking about an apple. I am talking about the US Congress.

They are just now coming off a 5-week vacation, including the full month of August. Their intent is to have about 7 more working days for the rest of the year!

But, that doesn't stop them from criticizing the President or his policies. This doesn't stop them from selling their votes to the highest bidder. This doesn't stop them from running negative ads in their re-election campaigns. This doesn't stop them from looking for the big "pay-off" once they are out of Congress. They are the farthest thing from "public servants".

Even as their own polls lag somewhere around 10 or 12%, they ridicule the President for polls that are three times as high as their own.

But, worst of all, they run from the President. They do not want to be connected with him in any way. Not even with programs that they voted for, like the ACA. And this is his own Party!

They wonder if they are going to lose the Senate in November's election? They wonder if anyone is going to get out and vote?

The Republicans smell blood in the water. They will keep attacking Obama until his Party decides to stand up and defend him. And it's not like they don't have an argument to defend him.

They criticize him for being "weak" on foreign policy. Even though he was able to capture and kill Osama Bin Laden, the mastermind behind the attack on 9/11. Even though he was able to withdraw our troops from the mess that was created in Iraq and the Middle East in general. He left Iraq with the means to protect their country and to include all their citizens in the process. It was not his fault that Iraq and their leaders failed so miserably. Nobody wanted us to stay there forever.

They criticize him for the possible "fallout" from the immigration issue and his decision to put it off until after the election. However, it should be pointed out that the immigration bill was passed on a bipartisan basis in the Senate and the only thing holding it up are the Republicans in the House of Representatives. It's only a small detail, I know, but one that should be told.

Democrats cannot continue to let their leader be attacked by the Rotten Repubs and pretend it will not affect the next election. They must stand up and fight as one or they will surely be hanged separately...

I want no part of that. I think the crazy is stacked against us. It could be far far worse than we already have.

Vehemently disagree. Some things are irreparable. I would like to not start from scratch or give some tea party lunatic faction any sort of hold on any new beginning.

We could get better constitutional protections for our minority citizens, the GLBT community, and women instead of this mishmash we have now. We could ban gerrymandering, money is speech laws, enact strict term limits, remove Walstreet's influence, and on and on.

The only way to stamp out our current right wing plague is a reboot of the constitution.

I wish I had your optimism. I feel as if it would give the nutbags a platform to take those things away. I have little faith in the electorate. People that constantly vote against their best wishes.

The Gonads, I mean GOPhers have bitched continuously about the extensive vacations the evil Obama has taken...He does not even come close to Congress' perpetual vacation mode. Not even close if the took the next two months off.

Do nothing but vacation Congress.
