Michael Sam was released by the Rams.

This is not the end of his career. He may be picked up off of waivers by another team or even end up back with the Rams. Now we will see about the NFL. He played well enough to help some team. He could also play in Canada to gain more experience.

The Rams were a good team for him in that they had a very supportive group in the hierarchy. There were also older players who accepted him and that probably calmed down any incipient noise from those who might have caused a problem.

The Rams were also a bad team for him to join in that they already had a lot of experienced players playing the same position. There was also another rookie who played well and he had more versatility than Sam. I do believe this was a football decision.

I do still believe he was drafted lower than he should have been. The 'distractions' were all the people talking about them.

I still have my fingers crossed for him.

Or cut another one. Teams tend to have only 9 at the most.
