WASHINGTON — Bob Kerrey and the Nebraska Democratic Party have set up a joint fundraising committee to aid his campaign for the U.S. Senate — and it’s already attracting the support of some big-time donors.
Billionaire investment banker Herb Allen and Level 3 Communications CEO James Crowe are among those who have donated the maximum of $15,000 a pop to the Nebraska Senate Victory Fund, according to Federal Election Commission records.
Sesame Street creator Joan Ganz Cooney also has contributed to the fund, which raised $195,000 through March 31.
About $58,000 of that total already has been transferred to Kerrey’s campaign committee and $110,000 has been distributed to the state party.
