The Whopper in 1957 was 37 cents

The minimum wage was $1.00 in 1957

Today the Whopper is about $3.49

The current Federal Minimum Wage is $7.25

If we used Whopper inflation for the current minimum wage it should be $9.43

A worker would have to work 12 hours more a week (on a 40 hour work week) to make up the difference.

Right now, slide the decimal point back one spot and you have the prices on most goods and services from 40-50 years ago.

That said, the minimum wage should be at least $12.50-$15.00 per hour.

We should also start rounding cash transactions to the nearest 10 cents and get rid of those useless cents and nickels.

a cost of living index adjusted for inflation, compared to the minimum wage index.

All that heavily subsidized corn, wheat, sugar and beef slime has done amazing things to fast food burger prices in 60 years, not to mention all that cheap labor.

How is that for a whopper of a fact?

No mention of a Whopper index in the stats.

Gas was 39¢/gal or under. VW Beetle was under $1500, 4-dr midsized sedan was $2500. Real estate, medical, and college have all risen more than 10x though.
