1. Hopefully the Secret Service will be keeping an eye out for 'stand you grounders.'

I sincerely doubt that 'get out of jail free card' would get them off the hook, but a basement dweller might think it would.

3. Personally, I wish he would just focus on his job not on campaigning,

not just Obama, but all sitting presidents. Our election cycles, the allowed length of campaigning, and off course the fact that most of the deal is so corrupted that even if one votes, one can't even be sure the machines aren't rigged to switch that vote.

I hate election season, and this one seems to have been going on a really long time already.

with the political realities being what they are, that's just not possible. As you put it, the election season in this country is so long and the requirements such that it's necessary for presidents to do this sort of thing months before they should have to do so. And particularly in this political climate. And I don't see things changing anytime soon, sad to say.

What the hell do you want him to do? He's taking his message to the people.

people in order to get anything passed by the rethugs so why not do some politics at the same time? I also do not think setting in DC waiting for the congress to act does anything to increase his chances of being re-elected.

8. that just makes no sense at all. This entire election effort is directly related to all of that

Congress is gridlocked and our majority is thin in the Senate and broken in the House. Anyone following the legislative process can see that republicans have been intent on stalling until they can, somehow, engineer this Democrat out of office and replace him with another republican autocrat.

Elections are OUR time and part in the democratic process. It's where we weigh in to determine the make-up of the legislature; thus, the scope, content, and direction of our national agenda. I think we'd loath the day we relinquished any more of that process of elections to regular order.

This is the time to be heard and to get these politicians to commit to our issues and initiatives. There isn't any substitute. We'll just have to fight through. I'm glad to see our Democratic president out in the nation rallying support for our Democratic initiatives. Today's theme is 'tax fairness.' How perfect.
