Here's the Hell of It: What Advice does a Father of a 17 yr. old Black Male Give His Son?

Now, if a cop says stop, the smart move is to throw up your hands and surrender.

But what if a creep in a pickup or SUV says stop? Maybe if Trayvon in THIS circumstance obeyed, he'd be alive. But what if it's a Tulsa-type creep?

And what kind of message is sent IF Bill Lee and Norm Wolfinger (who clearly, clearly engaged in a coverup - a coverup that will probably mean that Zimmerman eventually walks) are not held accountable?

If afraid the message is: Get a gun. And where the hell will THAT lead?

I know we have an incredible President who gave a dignified response.
I know there is a parallel investigation of what is civil rights and the abuse of.
I know SYG is a loophole to the constitution and will not stand the test of time.

pull over as soon as you are signaled

turn on your dome light

have license, reg and ins ready

keys out of the ignition

hands on the steering wheel

dont reach for anything, and in particular, dont make eye contact if you do

why? to tell him your arent armed, and you dont plan to run. (which also implies you're not a dangerous felon or an escaped convict) that's what they're trying to figure out as they approach the car. so the driver can calm down the armed stranger walking towards him

i've been pullled over once since i heard it, and got a warning (seat belt)

that's what the cop told this clean cut white guy

it is not in anyone's self interest to put themselves in Zimmerman's position

rightly or wrongly, he is at serious criminal charge, liability and personal safety risk

i would never have considered using a gun for those reasons, and i didnt need this incident to come to that conclusion, i already had

but i'm on neither the police or the da's payroll

that's their burdon, not mine

in any case, i dont have any sympathy for the predicament he (zimmerman)chose to put himself in

by arming himself, he exposed to put what he claimed to be protecting, at massive financial risk

any type of security detail, beyond unarmed non confrontational watch, needs to be handled by trained, bonded professionals

Who all killed children or young adults near Trayvon's age.

So when two licensed carriers have a gunfight, who is at fault - are one or both standing their ground? How can you even sort it out? How quickly do you reach for your gun in a bar fight? If an unarmed child can be gunned down in a public space (even if he threw the first punch in defense), how are you ever going to sort this out?

A crazy guy in a SUV is following you with a gun on his hip? What the hell are you supposed to do?

An armed society is a polite society. Manners are good when one may have to back up his acts with his life.

This is a favorite among gun rights enthusiasts. There are different mind sets among different people. Most people do not ever feel the need to carry a gun.

If we are devolving to something akin to the wild west, the days of dueling or the like, and we appear to be, blacks could resort to CCW or open carry as the state they live in allows, as a matter of course.

Would it stifle white supremacists to know that blacks are armed and trained to fight back with their weapons of choice?

I don't know. But at one time we had infrastructure and law enforcement that was supposed to be regulated, by citizens review commissions, to keep them fair and all citizens treated as they should be. Now we don't have much of any regulation or citizen input in the way these things are being done.

Someone else can give you a better answer, I'm sure.

for Zimmerman's immediate arrest. If there were mitigating circumstances, let that come up at the trial.

But instead, the RW media rallied to Zimmerman's defense. One wonders if they think anything through.

17. They're paid to deliver anxiety to keep their viewers' focus on underlying fear without thinking:
Mon Apr 9, 2012, 07:20 PM
Apr 2012
Anxiety leads to a narrowing of the field of attention, the so-called tunnel vision, and when people are anxious, they are unable to attend to the total situation as is necessary to enable them to act rationally, but impulsively do the first thing that comes into their heads, which is usually determined by what others are doing at the same time. -- J. A. C. Brown, 'Techniques of Persuasion'

And at that point, RW media loads the gun of the mind toward liberals, Democrats, immigrants, minorities, etc. We are trapped inside our flesh and can't help but react.

we are back in a very dark place in American history, if we ever left...

I don't have kids, but as a White Jew I know that my kids would have far less chances of being stopped, and question for walking or driving while black. I also know security will not become like dirt to them.

That said, since I do have an accent, once they hear me at stores, I tend to get some of that treatment as well.

I mean the police and the lawyers are having a hard enough time dealing with the this specific case and they have had weeks ........ how they hell are 17 year old boys supposed to be any wiser in the seconds it took for this to happen to Trayvon.

Brother Man nowadays living in the ghetto...

This is a violent civilization
If civilization's where I am
Every channel that I stop on
Got a different kind of cop on
Killing them by the million for Uncle Sam

Saturday night just ain't that special
Yeah, I got the constitution on the run
'Cause even though we've got the right
To defend our home, to defend our life
Got to understand to get it in hand about the guns

Saturday night just ain't that special
Freedom to be afraid is all you want
Yes if you don't want to be next
You've got a family to protect
9 out of 10, you've got a friend, you've got a gun.

Everybody got a pistol, this mosty be the NRA
Yeah 'cause when it's time to shine up
You know damn well they're gonna line up
Everybody...

And the philosophy seem to be
At least as near as I can see
When other folks give up theirs, I'll give up mine

Or, per an earlier post: We're all livin in Beirut
