found a kitten buried up to it's head in cement UP DATE

I don't know how people can be so cruel. The kitten is fine now. video at the link

Construction Workers Heard Cries Coming From Underground. You Won't Believe What They Rescued!

Andrew Chatwin and Isaac Wyler found a kitten buried up to it's head in cement trapped in a metal tube on a construction project they were working on. It's sickening that someone would do this, but thankfully the cat was rescued and is safe now.

UP DATE: The kitten died a few days later.

Authorities in the Mohave County Sheriff's Office in Colorado City, Ariz. announced Tuesday they will actively pursue an animal cruelty case and post new patrols in the community after a helpless kitten was thrown into a metal pipe filled with cement during the Memorial Day holiday. Andrew Chatwin rescued the kitten by cutting through the metal tube and chipping away at the hardened cement. snip

As soon as the emaciated and injured kitten was freed, he was taken to Best Friends Animal Society in Kanab, Utah. Sadly the kitten named Thomas by his rescuers, died a few days later as a result of his massive injuries.

http://www.examiner.com/article/investigation-begins-for-arizona-kitten-buried-alive-cement-pipe

The article suggests that this and other acts of animal cruelty are acts of religious retaliation against the property owners who left the Warren Jeffs-led Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

Raw footage of the trapped kitten and the rescue is at the link, but fair warning, it is very difficult to watch.

Can and would do the same to a human. They should be locked away for life if found and convicted.

by people's capacity for cruelty. Passive indifference I can understand but this sort of active cruelty is completely foreign to me. I simply cannot fathom the psyche of someone that vicious and sadistic.

I was afraid of that, cement is quite caustic, I have burned my hands working with it on days where I thought a little here and there without gloves on would be OK.

When I saw that he had been in it long enough to set the first thing I thought of was how much damage was done by it and how did the poor little guy survive. I had hoped against hope that his fur had somehow protected him.

and most of them aren't a threat. But we live in an entertainment/celebrity culture, and any miserable mass-murderer or serial fuck-up can be a star -- and MSM will enthusiastically accommodate them every time (the innertubes lust for the stuff); Hence, it seems "everywhere."

but it didn't look like the one that was trapped.

Additionally, there's this:

"Mangled and emaciated but still breathing, the freed feline was taken to an animal sanctuary in Kanab, Utah, where it died a few days later."

http://usnews.nbcnews.com/_news/2012/07/10/12662100-cat-found-buried-alive-in-concrete-in-arizona-rescuer-alleges-religious-harassment?lite

So, no happy endings.

I apologized for posting. I didn't know it was a two year old story. Some stories on the Internet are not dated and the one I picked up on wasn't.

I didn't realize it was an old story. And when I posted it, I believed (as the link said) that the kitten had lived.)
