BREAKING: U.S. Senate unanimously approves $225 million for Israeli 'Iron Dome' system

(Reuters) - The U.S. Senate unanimously passed legislation on Friday to provide $225 million in emergency funding for Israel's "Iron Dome" missile defense system.

An earlier version of the funding plan had failed on Thursday when Senate Republicans blocked a broader spending bill that was largely intended to provide money to handle the current immigration crisis at the U.S.-Mexico border.

But lawmakers reached an agreement overnight to pass the missile funding measure.

To become law, the funding plan must still pass the House of Representatives and be signed by President Barack Obama. Given U.S. lawmakers traditionally strong support for Israel, it is not expected to encounter significant resistance in the House.

Why the hell would the funding for the Israeli Iron Dome funding be attached to the immigration border issue ?

Wasted time, wasted effort, wasted opportunities ..........

Seriously we have no money to spend here at home. Nothing to fix our broken infrastructure, no money for health care, no money to fix Detroit, but we'll gladly throw hundreds of millions at a bullshit defense system for a war we're not even involved in. Fuck everyone who voted to pass this bill. Seriously.

We continue to be Israel's bitch....

They play us. They thumb their nose at us when we tell them to stop illegal settlements. They thumb their nose at us when we ask them to stop indiscriminate bombing. And yet we are still their bitch.

Only when we no longer prop them up will they realize they are a tiny two-bit country surrounded by enemies. Only when they themselves have to pay for their arms will they realize they have to negotiate in good faith with their neighbors.

I hate to say it but the U.S. is an enabler of fascist genocide.

I used to support Israel but no more. I support the dismantling of Israel and a return of the land to the Palestinians. The Israelis might like to live in the same camps where the Palestinians were thrown after 1948.

Nice try but Israel has no moral high ground nor are they America's friend.
