1973: Homosexuality is no longer regarded as "sick"

In 1973, the American Psychiatric Association declassified homosexuality as a mental disorder. The American Psychological Association Council of Representatives followed in 1975.[3] Thereafter other major mental health organizations followed and it was finally declassified by the World Health Organization in 1990.

The human race does make progress, albeit slowly. Let's rejoice that we have moved on from those very dark days before 1973.

very scientific. This is what 'the best minds of science and medicine' are capable of. This is why so many people do not trust them. Add to that the filthy crap they did during the early days of the AIDS crisis and I'm shocked more of them were not put on trial like Mengele.

treatments by the supposed experts and "brains" have sometimes been horrific for all types of situations throughout history. Some of the practitioners were no less than monsters. And they are still with us today.

Agree so much ... and of note is the especially ignorant article in Discovery Magazine way back clearly demonstrating in their opinion that AIDS was only a gay disease. I read that article when it came out and immediately said WTF, this is so incredibly inaccurate. Even a high school biology student should have been able to see the incredible flaws in their analysis. Seemingly bright people are often among the stupidest people I know. And the ignorant being we called a president back then, how utterly incompetent he was, unfit to lead!

Meaning doesn't matter who your sexual partner is.

Although I will admit we have been tearing down this wall a lot easier as of late than we were able to in the past.
