When did the post office start delivering on Sunday?

I ordered two things from Amazon on friday and though the shipping notification said the delivry would be Sunday, I dismissed it as just being a mistake and the items would come Monday. Then, much to my surprise, the doorbell rang today around 3PM, and it was the Mail Carrier with my package. She had dropped it on th porch and was already getting back into her truck by the time I got to the door or I would have asked HER when they started this Sunday delivery stuff.

I'm wheelchair bound so I can no longer jump in the car to go shopping. My hubby is a dear, but like most me, he hates to shop. We do the grocery shopping once a week, but I hate to ask him to go wandering around to other stores. I love being able to price compare and check out different brands and models of things, and have them deivered to my front door. Amazon usually has the bests price of anyone and that $99 is well worth the expense for me.

Well, in a way. They don't do full mail delivery on sundays, but the usps and amazon worked out a deal for them to deliver their packages on sundays.

The usps agreed to it since they needed the additional funds, and amazon sought them out because sunday delivery is a oneup on their competitors.

Here's a article on it.

They don't, however, deliver on Saturday. I live in Adventist territory.

When I first moved here, it took me three weeks to realize we were getting mail on Sunday. Crazy.
