Music Industry Experts say Nugent is destroying his own career...

Music Industry Experts Say Ted Nugent's Ongoing Diatribes Damaging Concert Promotion

Ted Nugent's recent spate of offensive and racist comments that have sparked protests and canceled shows are damaging his image and could well cripple his income if he continues, according to veteran concert promoters and industry journalists.

◾Three Nugent concerts scheduled in early August at Native American tribe-owned casinos in Washington and Idaho were canceled this week due to the performer's commentary. Puyallup Tribe Tribal Chairman Bill Sterud has said Nugent is a "jackass" and will never be booked again.

◾Earlier this summer controversy surrounded a concert scheduled for an Oshkosh, WI, music festival after a letter to the editor decrying Nugent's concert received heightened attention. Nugent subsequently described his critics as "unclean vermin."

◾"Picket signs lined the street" outside a July 22 concert in New Jersey as Nugent was greeted by "at least 75 protestors."

◾While Nugent will perform at The Toledo Blade's Northwest Ohio Rib-Off festival next month, the paper's sales director told Media Matters he had received numerous complaints and strongly suggested Nugent would never be booked again.

◾The City of Longview, TX in March canceled Nugent's concert at a Fourth of July festival and paid him $16,000 (reportedly half his fee) not to show up.

Jul 2014

A Gibson Byrdland which was hollow and designed for jazz and country. He had to stuff it full of foam rubber to stop the feedback.

Why did I mention this? Because in all the years of hearing and listening to this jackass it is the only thing about him I ever found even remotely interesting. His playing was banal. His songwriting the same. Singing? Oh please.

Even before I have come to be aware of, and detest his views. I wonder if it's ( partly ) because of the hollow body guitar. I don't mind simple lyrics if the overall sound is good, but it really isn't. Chords, especially power chords seem kinda' thin, and the overall sound is too "jangly" with too many solos. You're right, his vocals are lame too.

At the very best ( and again, separating his music from his views ) I would consider his music basically decent background noise for the mid-late 70's era party. A "soundtrack" more or less.

... although they only had one hit. As a solo artist, Nugent sought the least common denominator, and is every bit as bad as you said. There is no substance to his music, none of my many musician friends have mentioned him as an influence or even someone they listen to. Although his rhetoric might be killing his career, it should have been killed years ago due to suckiness.

FUCK. Because FUCK.

Couldn't happen to a "nicer" shit-smear!!!! There was a thread elsewhere here "lamenting" how hypocritical Michael Moore is because his work has made him rich. Aw boo-boo. That entire idea utterly DELIGHTS me! Because he is working for the good, and for the truth. I WANT Michael Moore and others like him, carrying OUR message, to get rich. I WANT them to thrive and have their families be comfortable and well-taken-care-of, and their work to continue and spread and reach farther and enlighten and educate more people. I WANT him to do well, so he can keep it up, for the sake of ALL of us!

And the flip side - the very idea that ted nugent would start taking it in the shorts (so to speak!!!!) for his nauseating, disgusting, despicable public comments and actions - is EXQUISITELY DELIGHTFUL!!!! It tells me there actually may be some justice in the world. Especially the part about the public's reaction to his shit-spew that is starting to turn off concert bookers and handlers and promoters. Let the almighty much-worshipped "free market" gods silence him then. I WANT him hobbled and disabled and losing ground and losing money and losing audiences and further exposure and vehicles from which to spew. Ironically that'll be ONE time when the "free market" actually works for the greater good.

Another chapter in the endless wrong-wingers "bible" - "Thou crawlest into bed with him. Now he gets to fuck thee."

27. Is Ted Nugent still a darling of the Republican party?
Fri Jul 25, 2014, 02:36 PM
Jul 2014

The most succinct thing I've read on the topic...

I knew Ted Nugent was a nasty piece of work, but this…can he possibly be a bit more blatantly racist? He’s had a couple of shows cancelled at Indian casinos — first by the Coeur d’Alene tribe in Idaho, and most recently by the Puyallups in Washington — and I guess it made Nugent a mite testy.

“The Coeur d’Alene Tribe has always been about human rights — for decades, we have worked individually and as a Tribe to make sure that each and every person is treated equally and with respect and dignity,” said a statement from the tribe.

A spokesperson for the casino said that the company didn’t want to provide a platform for the “racist attitudes and views that Ted Nugent espouses.” Nugent responded to the cancelation by calling the Coeur d’Alene Tribe "unclean vermin."

"By all indicators, I don’t think they actually qualify as people, but there has always been a lunatic fringe of hateful, rotten, dishonest people that hate happy, successful people," he continued. "I believe raising hell and demanding accountability from our elected employees is Job One for every American. I am simply doing my job."

Brilliant: fired for racist remarks, so he calls the whole tribe “vermin” and questioning their status as humans, perfectly confirming the accusation.

It's not just because by that time he'll be reduced to playing bars.

No, Ted will buy an old warehouse in Waco, where he lives, and convert it into the distribution center for Ted Nugent's Call of the Wild, The World's Biggest Archery Stores! Go to YouTube and look for Ted Nugent archery videos. Nugent knows his shit about bowhunting. He loves guns but guns are federally regulated and bows are not, and as much as he despises the government it's not likely he'd open a store that will bring the BATF in on a regular basis.
