McDonald's worker 'loses' Mega Millions ticket

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/04/06/mirlande-wilson-mega-millions-mcdonalds_n_1408105.html

The Mega Millions drama escalated further on Friday after a Maryland McDonald's worker claimed she lost the winning ticket from last week's historic record $656 million drawing, MSNBC reports.

I have no idea where it is. Im not sure I have it, Mirlande Wilson told the New York Post.

On Monday, 37-year-old Wilson claimed she had the winning ticket, which 15 of her McDonald's co-workers allege was part of a workplace lottery pool.

But controversy erupted when the mother of seven told the New York Post the winning ticket was bought separately from the pool and that she wouldn't share the winnings.

Mmm...

2. I'm wondering if this woman is full of it.

I'm pretty sure that they know which store sold the winning ticket. They probably also know which tickets were sold immediately before and after it. Were the other tickets she bought, bought at that store? Were they bought the same time as the winner? Can they check them, or are they "lost" also?

4. It will be a sad case pf selfishness and greed if she truly had and then lost it

For that much money, I will be content to share with the pool even if the ticket was not part of the pool.

Personally, I think that if you are the one collecting the money for the pool, then you implicitly have accepted that any ticket you have in your possession will be contested as being part of the pool ticket(s) unless the pool ticket(s) were bought well ahead of the drawing and photocopies of the ticket(s) made and distributed so that all the members of the pool so that they have the record before the drawing is announced. Otherwise, it is almost impossible to argue about the separation of the pool ticket(s) and personal ones.

If she had the ticket and somehow lost it because she does not want to share it as part of the pool, well I will say karma just stepped in to teach someone a lesson. The only thing that might save her is if she signed the back of the ticket.

5. I would be content to share with the pool if

it was just 1 million.

if you join a group the group must prosper or fail equally.

6. I'm starting to think this woman either:

1. Actually won and is lying her ass off to keep from getting sued.

2. Didn't win at all, made the whole thing up, and is a bigger publicity troll than "balloon boy".

My money is on number two more than number one.
