NBC Shielding Producer Responsible for Edited George Zimmerman 911 Call
http://nymag.com/daily/intel/2012/04/george-zimmerman-911-call-nbc-editing-producer.html?mid=rss
"Now, Reuters reports that a "seasoned" producer is to blame, but sources at NBC refused to name the person, and said NBC will not be firing the responsible party." I think that the news producer should be placed in front of a news conference and allowed to explain his/her motivation for the editing and let the chips fall where they may. That would be the expectation of news outlets for politicians or business people. Covering it up looks really bad (on the level of the exploding trucks).

1. This is good. On a par with the Dan Rather Memo-gate disposal of Dubya's military record...

"The whole race thing was a media invention"
Really good. |

2. The producer did NOT change the content of the issue behind profiling!!
|
What ticks me off about this issue is that ZMan STILL noticed TMs skin color and that was PART of the reason he was profiling him even without ZMans past calls naming person race in his assessments.
ABC is being stupid |

3. I perceive it as a hamhanded attempt to reinforce the message
|
through an easily verifiable ploy. Only an idiot would not know what editing the tape in that fashion would mean. It was either his/her intent or his/her incompetence. Let him/her defend himself/herself in front of his/her peers. The problem is that it takes away from the true message (just like the fake Bush memos). Holding onto this crap brings down organizations - you would have thought NBC would have learned this by now.
It drowns out the message and brings all news reporters ethics into question. Let his/her peers have a crack at him/her. |

4. HELLO...he only said he was black when asked if the person was white, black, or Hispanic.
|
That was a response to a question. He didn't volunteer it but the producer made it seem like he did.
