"Shaken Baby Syndrome" used in defense of Trayvon Martin's killer
http://www.reuters.com/article/2012/04/06/us-usa-florida-shooting-idUSBRE8350D520120406
(Reuters) - "Shaken Baby Syndrome" was cited on Friday in the defense of George Zimmerman, the Sanford, Florida, man who shot and killed unarmed black teenager Trayvon Martin, in a case that has sparked a widespread public outcry. Hal Uhrig, a lawyer and former Gainesville, Florida, police officer who recently joined Zimmerman's defense team, cited in a TV interview the brain damage that can seriously injure or kill an infant. His point, which has been made before, was that Zimmerman contends he shot Martin in self defense and feared for his life after the 17-year-old attacked him and began pounding his head into the concrete pavement of a gated community on a rainy evening in Sanford on February 26. But Uhrig's choice of words, and use of a recognized sign of child abuse to defend a 28-year-old man who killed a kid, seemed likely to raise more than just a few eyebrows.

"He didn't commit any crime." If it goes to trial, Uhrig said he and his fellow defense attorney, would defend Zimmerman under the Stand Your Ground statute.

7. In this rewrite are we going for an insanity plea???
|
Let's see here. No charges. No evidence kept. No first hand investigation. 'Enhanced' video.
Still we set up for an insanity plea by virtue of "Shaken Baby Syndrome". Will they keep rewriting this story until George Zimmerman is portrayed as an abused child turned suburban hero? What are these people trying to prove? Possably that stand you're ground laws are a good thing? I do not think we will ever find out what realy happened. |

|
he has detached retinas, bleeding in the brain and all the bells and whistles that go along with shaken BABYsyndrome. NOT shaken 28 F@CKING YEAR OLD, PSYCHOPATHIC LYING MURDERER syndrome. This is beyond crazy...what's next? Zimmerman had a miscarraige as a result of the beating Trayvon gave him? REALLY??!!!

Since Zimmerman can't seem to get anyone but this group of total hacks to mount his defense, his legal outlook doesn't look promising.

25. Dear heavenly father. "Shaken Baby Syndrome"????
|
Here are the symptoms of "Shaken Adult Syndrome"
http://emj.bmj.com/content/17/2/144.full.pdf 1.He would have had intraocular hemorrhaging that would probably still be evident. 2.He would have had patterned bruising to both upper extremeties. 3.He would have SOME sort of subdural hematoma..easily diagnosed by CT. Yet ANOTHER reason the man should have been evaluated by an ER doc before going to the Police Station. |

28. And doesn't this occur b/c a baby's skull has extra space in it?
|
I may be totally off-base here, but I thought that was why it could happen - the brain hasn't grown to fit the skull, making it vulnerable to shaking.
