I had the problem of being born a white male.
Because of nothing I did, i will be looked at as the problem.
It was not me that did anything bad to another human being, but because I am a white male I will be looked at as the problem. I understand white privilege and I acknowledge that it exists, but I will always be cursed for being a white male for something I have never done.

17. this is pure speculation on my part, but maybe this person feels that people will look at him as the
|
problem, even if he is working toward a solution. That is not something you know from just looking at someone. so he feels that because he is a white male that he will always be looked at as the problem, the one causing the problems when he is not.
idk if any of that is true, though. |

16. Where you are wrong, IMO, is this: you recognize the existence of racism and
|
sexism in our society, you acknowledge the privilege that exempts you from those issues, and yet you come to complain that in some nebulous and unspecified way it all makes you the victim. That's mock-worthy...

6. I can top that
|
I'm a bi-racial woman in America.
Top that. Seriously - no seriously. I'm the welfare queen. The tragic mulatto. The ugly and 'angry' one. I 'steal' - since I shop while black. I will be treated 'less than' when my white husband and I are in a hospital for the delivery of a child. . . because well - you know - no one wants black women so they just get knocked up and pop out babies. Now that said - I see your point. But get over it. I've gotten all of those things that vast majority of NON Liberal/Progressive white men think of me as outline above - but you need to get the chip off your shoulder too. |

It is nothing this while male did, he needs to be a voice of good thought and must go out of his way to try and make things right.
other wise he is just a part of the problem. |

13. I think that's a curse you can live with...
|
...the much worse curse it the lack of clue that you have, that you "will always be looked at as the problem".
The good news is your white-male "curse" really doesn't rate that word, and cluelessness and lack of a sense of proportion can be cured, if you let it. All you need is humility. |

A's in every school I went to. But everybody assumes
my success is because of affirmative action. That I don't deserve any of my successes, that the government paid for my schooling and i get micromanaged on every job I've ever had by people stupider than me. My word is doubted, I get watched when I shop in stores. I get pulled over by cops for no reason. Etc. Etc. |

25. As a non-white person I do not look at you as the problem.
|
There are problem white people out there, but I'd rather we not blame whites who aren't racist for the racist problem.
That way we can deal with racism and, more importantly, the Plutocracy that keeps it going so we don't concentrate on dealing with THEM. |

26. you can of course, point out consistent and pervasive negative consequences, yes...?
|
I think you confuse "curse" with " relevant historical precedent which is not yet over and done with"
Two wholly separate meanings... unless of course, you can point out consistent and pervasive negative consequences that run the gamut from employment to being pulled over for having done nothing... |
