'dont worry outsurcing will continue
this source came from obama's 2008 campaign http://graphics8.nytimes.com/packages/pdf/politics/memo1.pdf 2005: Anti-Offshoring Advocacy Group Gave Sen. Clinton A “Weasel Award,” Citing Pro-Outsourcing Comments Clinton Made In India. The Press Trust of India wrote, “An American anti-offshoring advocacy group has awarded its first ‘Weasel Award of 2005’ to Democrat Senator Hillary Clinton for her recent remarks supporting outsourcing. The Delaware-based IT Professionals Association of America (ITPAA) representing over 1,200 IT professionals nationwide, said on its Web site that it presented this award to business and political leaders that it believes ‘betray the trust of the American people.’ Scott Kirwin, founder of the organization claimed that people were ‘tired of Democrats pretending they care about the problems facing average Americans. Senator Clinton’s actions prove they clearly do not.’ The ITPAA based its award on press reports of Hilary Clinton supporting outsourcing and assuring political and business leaders in India that the US would not attempt to save the jobs lost. ‘Outsourcing will continue. There is no way to legislate against reality. We are not in favor of putting up fences.’ Hillary had said on Feb 28 in India, according to a report by the Asia Times. Kirwin also cited her position as co-chair of the ‘Friends of India Caucus’ in the Senate, a group of senators that supports issues important to India, including outsourcing and H-1B and L-1 visas, as another reason behind the ITPAA's decision to give the award to the prospective Democrat presidential nominee.” 3/5/05; Link To Weasel Award] 2/05: On India Trip, Clinton Allayed India’s Fears That Outsourcing Would End. The India Review wrote, “Senator Clinton allayed apprehensions in India that there would be a bar on outsourcing. ‘There is no way to legislate against reality. Outsourcing will continue,” she said. Sen. Clinton (D-Punjab) Joked That She Was Senator From The Punjab Region In India. “At the fundraiser hosted by Dr Rajwant Singh at his Potomac, Maryland, home, and which raised nearly $50,000 for her re-election campaign, Clinton began by joking that, ‘'I can certainly run for the Senate seat in Punjab and win easily,’ after being introduced by Singh as the Senator not only from New York but also Punjab.” |

72. Obama's response ""Punjab" Memo Was A "Dumb Mistake"
|
The link you put up about Clinton's "Indian ties" was from a memo distributed by the Obama campaign, which the Clinton campaign released to The New York Times.
Obama: "Punjab" Memo Was A "Dumb Mistake" "It was a dumb mistake on our campaign's part and I made it clear to my staff in no uncertain terms that it was a mistake," Obama told the AP in a brief interview. "It is not reflective of the long-standing relationship I have had with the Indian-American community," Obama said in the interview . http://www.cbsnews.com/2100-250_162-2947307.html "Obama ‘furious’ about offensive memo" Trouble surfaced last month when Obama's camp circulated a memorandum that has been interpreted as a snide attack on Clinton's closeness with the Indian community. The memorandum titled, "Hillary Clinton (D-Punjab)'s Personal, Financial and Political Ties to India" surfaced after congressional financial disclosure forms of Senator Clinton, D-N.Y., were made public. The memorandum attacked the Clintons' ties to India and the financial gain they reaped due to their alliances. The document, which was obtained by members of the Clinton camp, circulated to media members and bloggers. The document makes it sound offensive to have financial ties with Indian Americans and questions the political loyalty of the community. "Observers were surprised at Obama playing the outsourcing card as he himself is trying to court the Indian-American constituency with moves afoot to promote 'South Asians for Obama' chapters across the country. " "Political Action Committee (USINPAC) shot off a letter to Obama asking him to respond to allegations that his campaign has been 'promoting hurtful stereotypes against the Indian American community.' 'As representatives of the Indian American community, we have been encouraged by your message of inclusion and your promise to bring a new kind of politics to our country,' wrote Sanjay Puri, chairman of the Washington based organisation. 'This is why we are so concerned about media reports indicating your staff may be engaging in the worst kind of anti Indian American stereotyping.' 'We request that you respond directly to these media reports and let us know if indeed your staff is promoting these hurtful stereotypes. We trust that you will take all appropriate action on this matter and look forward to your response on this issue of great concern to the Indian American community,' Puri added. "I was surprised when I read the comments," said AAHOA president Fred Schwartz. "Senator Obama is a very talented individual and he is doing a good job of connecting with all different people. Suddenly, you see language coming out singling out one particular group, which was uncharacteristic of his stature."Our chairman, Danny Patel, was very concerned and disappointed, too. Danny was disappointed to see a presidential candidate's camp with such a broad base to make such a remark," he added.Schwartz said that, as an association consisting of largely South Asian hotel owners, AAHOA felt the need to issue a statement and become involved by contacting Senator Obama. "With 8,300 members owning over 22,000 hotel properties," he said. "I think it's important that we issue a statement. The Indian American community is very hard working and value-driven group of people. We don't like to see these types of statements." Senator Obama publicly apologized for the remarks, calling the memorandum a "mistake." http://www.indusbusinessjournal.com/ME2/Audiences/dirmod.asp?sid=&nm=&type=Publishing&mod=Publications%3A%3AArticle&mid=8F3A7027421841978F18BE895F87F791&tier=4&id=18491F9C90D44724BD5468C505059F56&AudID=0C5ABC84F3CE4D0DB8BF8D0BF8BD2F70 It's really sad that you and bart95 had to post a memo that President Obama has disassociated himself and apologized for, on a post that was really suppose to be for fun. In the video of Hillary, she certainly isnt hiding anything, her view is outsourcing brought jobs to both India and US. You may agree or disagree, but one thing is for certain, outsourcing continues. Personally I would take Hillary, warts and all over Palin any day of the week & twice on Sunday. I'm getting so sick of attacks on Democratic women. Just as I would take Obama, warts and all over Romney, any day of the week & twice on Sunday. None of them are perfect. It's just once in awhile, it's good to have a laugh, too bad neither of you has a sense of humor or reliable sources, either. |

WASHINGTON -- On Thursday, Hillary Clinton took a few minutes away from her texting (and all her other duties as secretary of state) and met with the two guys who have turned her into the latest Internet meme.
In less than a week, the blog "Texts from Hillary" has become an online sensation, boosting Clinton's public image in the process. As Benjy Sarlin of TPM wrote, "When she was running for the Democratic presidential nomination, Hillary Clinton was parodied as drab and calculated, especially compared with young and vigorous Barack Obama and winking and fresh-faced Sarah Palin. Now, she’s fueling Internet jokes based on her own brand of badass cool." Stacy Lambe and Adam Smith, the two guys behind the site, said they received an email from a member of Clinton's staff on Monday afternoon, out of the blue.
