It's all part of Cable TV's corporate laziness - slide in a DVD for 12 hrs, go home. Why provide something 1/2-way intelligent, when it costs too much to produce?

(17,086 posts)I'm fine with them giving as many workers as possible a long weekend. Their choice of what to entertain us with is debatable, however.

(17,086 posts)I was just checking the listings over the air, and it looks pretty much the same old same old. Maybe I'll watch some soccer on Univision. Have a happy Fourth!

(3,871 posts)received positive feedback. For instance, Kornacki and Rachel's coverage of Christie, other shows that were really exceptional. Of course that would mean someone would have to go into the archives, splice and dice some tapes...OR, they could just do reruns of their shows. Rev. Al has had some great shows, even Chris has had his moments... Just NO MEET THE PRESS..tyvm..

(10,893 posts)that they didn't have any of the normal primetime shows on last night. They had on PoliticsNation and maybe Hardball (I wasn't watching), but after that, it was straight to prison.
I think Phil Griffin is just too cheap to pay to air re-runs of the political shows and hire more people to do the news, plus he probably assumes that everybody is out for the holidays and the weekends.
