Max, who has written about women in a controversial and degrading manner, has in the past made extremely offensive comments about Planned Parenthood and the women who seek health care there on his Twitter account. He tweeted in July 2011 that "Planned Parenthood would be cooler if it was a giant flight of stairs, w/someone pushing girls down, like a water park slide."

In another March 14 tweet, which he deleted on Tuesday following an uptick in media attention, he wrote: "In South Florida. This place is awful. Shitty design, slutty whores & no culture, like a giant Planned Parenthood waiting room."

(4,982 posts)had they accepted the money from that jerk. Not to mention primary problem - the fact that the guy's clearly got issues about women. Would be a bad move for PP all around to take money from such an alleged "person".

(55,445 posts)Hasn't his schlock "writing" long gotten stale? How old does he have to get before he realizes he can no longer credibly play the role of the frat boy at $1 pitcher night on homecoming weekend??
Is there anyone over the age of 20 who even reads his fantastical bar/bedroom war stories? Even "Letters to Penthouse Forum" has a slight tinge of believability to them....

(61,656 posts)how a person can be so much of an asshole that a charitable organization like PP, which could use that money to help so many women, would tell them to keep it.

(33,956 posts)It is about principle. Obviously the strings attached were so odious that they couldn't accept the money.
Perhaps there was a way to do it...that would have been satisfactory--like naming a toilet stall after him, but then that would be something I would do-but seen in the eyes of the majority as very petty.
I wouldn't dream of asking women to place their healthcare in the hands of a clinic named after someone who hates them anymore than I would ask a Jewish person to place theirs in a clinic named after Hitler.
The money was made on denigrating and insulting women. He can keep it.

(61,656 posts)PP turned them down. I can't understand being that big of an asshole (that they'd have to do it). I've never really understood the lack of grace and general ugliness in behavior and hatefulness of people like Max.

(33,956 posts)He knew that they would turn it down. He never intended to gift it...but he can say he did and rw'ers can spin it into hate and propaganda. They look at it like a win/win.

(82,849 posts)And a 50 pound donation of food hardly seems the stuff of publicity stunt bribery, like the odious Mr. Max.
But such things can be puzzling to folks who don't grasp nuance, or who strain for a false equivalency.
