(182,604 posts)I had someone at work ask me if there was anything interesting about today....I googled April 3 and found this. I was surprised but it hit me this afternoon - Easter.
I guess that makes sense. I personally get tired of being told Christian stories year after year after year after year. Like I don't know them by now. It's like that one song by Some Band that you can't stand anymore because they play it all the time.
Happy Vernal Equinox.

(482 posts)I doubt that the above individuals were the sort of people that Jesus was talking about.

(5,917 posts)it's such a shame that here at du, we the big tent democrats who demand tolerance and respect of so many diverse ideas can be so intolerant and disrespectful of someones religion. youre all just so above it all arent you.

(6,261 posts)The Mormons believe American Indians are the lost, 13th tribe of Israel. All evidence, including most recently, DNA evidence shows this be false. Should we still respect this belief because it's a religiously-held one? What about the Christian Scientist belief that it's better to let their children die than to receive simple medicine? I, for one, detest them for it.
I say silly and false notions deserve mocking, full stop. It's how we move on as a society.

(10,570 posts)There is no way to prove faith or it would stop being faith and be knowledge.
That being said, Mormons do not believe native Americans are a 13th tribe. They believe they are one of the original 12.

(6,261 posts)Thanks for the correction -- I didn't know! Still an incorrect belief, of course.

Have a wonderful Easter!

(19,705 posts)For MLK and the Civil War, there is actual historical evidence of those events. For jesus, not so much.
Unless you have some evidence to share?

(28,581 posts)It celebrates the Goddess Eostre and its symbols are bunnies and eggs. Even the way they figure out the day goes back to pre-christianity.
Like Christmas and a few other Catholic/Christian Holy days, they chose the dates to fall on the feast days of the people they were converting. It's easier to convert the masses if you don't take away their days to feast and make merry.
Anyway.... just correcting some misconceptions.
