US terror drone kills 18 in southern Somalia

At least 18 people have been killed and a dozen others injured in an attack by US assassination drones in southern Somalia, Press TV reports.

The causalities come after an unmanned aircraft fired several missiles at al-Shabab positions in the Daynile District in west Mogadishu on Saturday.

Hussein Mohamed Uraag, a Somali military official, confirmed the attack, saying the aerial strike happened early in the morning.

The US military uses remote-controlled drones in Somalia to carry out reconnaissance operations and targeted killings. The US has been using its drones in other countries including Pakistan, Afghanistan, Iraq, Yemen and Libya. The attacks have led to massive civilian deaths.

So, how many were innocent civilians and suspects and how many of them deserved to die in that extrajudicial slaughter?

And some mentally defective National Security Adviser will come out with "no one could have imagined that terrorists would get hold of drone technology and be able to perpetrate such a dreadful attack". And then the rest of the nursing home residents will have to listen to my tirade until the orderlies push me back to my room.

By what right are we sending death from the skies in that country halfway around the planet?

These drone attacks seem guaranteed to create a permanent stream of pissed off people seeking vengeance on us.

I know it's bipartisan and that every President of the last forty plus years has done this, but we really need to stop impeaching Presidents who engage in military action without Congressional approval.

Nixon should have been impeached for Cambodia, Reagan for Grenanda and the Contras, Bush Senior for Panama, etc.

It's not like that ever happens though

One dead kid in Florida and there are dozens of threads every day for weeks. Same kid dies "accidentally" in an attack overseas, and "He shouldn't have been there".
