William Bennett writes article complaining about 'rush to judgment' about Trayvon

Bennett writes for CNN.com:

It's clear that some of the people raising the most noise are trying to make this less about the horrible death of a young man and more about claims of racial resentment that may or may not exist.

The loudest voices should be particularly careful not to rush to conclusions. Remember the Duke lacrosse case, in which members of the team were accused of a gang rape. The public rushed to judgment long before the young men were eventually acquitted.

Zimmerman may or may not be guilty; there may or may not be racial motivations. We do not know yet. In the absence of complete evidence, inflammatory comments and belligerent reactions will not aid the search for justice. An angry crowd should not be in charge.

Lastly, why is there so much selective outrage on the part of so many?

The leading cause of death for black male teenagers is homicide, according to the National Center for Health Statistics. Of all the black homicide victims, about 93% are killed by other black people. In 2011, nearly 85% of all people murdered in Philadelphia were black. Where are the marches and protests for these victims? Is it justice people seek or are they looking and even hoping for signs of white racism so they can exploit it?

Of course, he started his diatribe with the typical distraction points: about Trayvon being suspended from school, Zimmerman being a Hispanic Democrat, the New Black Panthers' bounty, and Spike Lee tweeting a fake address. But really? Those who are marching for Trayvon are only seeking a non existent problem of white hatred towards blacks? Has Bennett ever actually used his BRAIN regarding the violence in cities like Philadelphia and realized that there ARE community leaders in those areas who are taking action regarding the inner city violence?

Nope...I don't see where he has any standing to act as the authority on this story. However, I'll be sure to call on him if I'm ever in need of having pot smokers arrested or if I need a hot tip on the fifth race at Hollywood Park.

If it were your sole purpose to reduce crime "You could abort every black baby in this country, and your crime rate would go down. "

I don't think he is a very good source of anything very credible or moral.

Believe it or not, The Gambler actually DEFENDED not APOLOGIZED for that comment.

By the way, did you know that Salem Radio Network, the company that syndicates Bennett's "Morning in America", actually does a service to talk radio by (honestly) branding some of its stations as conservative just like progressive talk stations have to be labeled as progressive? However, most of the mainstream stations carrying Rush/Hannity/Savage/Levin/etc. are NOT labeled conservative. For example, the Salem affiliate in Los Angeles is branded: "Intelligent. Conservative. Talk Radio." But that's the problem. "Intelligent????" Down in San Diego, Salem affiliate KCBQ is branded "intelligent talk". And Salem actually uses its own hourly news bulletins including the slogan "News for Christians" or something like that.

In contrast, my local conservative station KSFO (a Cumulus station) is branded "Hot Talk" with the slogan "the news and views you won't hear anywhere else" (LOL...because you've never heard those views from Fox News, the Drudge Report...?)

9. A child was shot and killed by an adult for no reason. And that adult walked away free.

Why? Is it because the child was black and the murderer was white and the police let him go because the police where that racist? Was it because the gun laws are so lacked that anyone can kill anyone? I think this goes way beyond inner city street violence and the public wants answers.

It's not just about race allot of people from all demographics want to know what the fuck is going on!

11. To have a "rush to judgement" you need a fucking arrest.

There was a "rush to judgement" alright. A guy with a gun shot a kid without one, and the cops gave him back his gun and let him back out on the street. Sounds rushed to me.

We shouldn't be angry at racism because black people kill other black people too? Apparently that makes it OK? Oh yes, and by all means let's bring up those poor innocent white lacrosse players that were railroaded by a nasty blah woman. What a load of crap. I'd like to unread this article, please.
