(62,325 posts)Economically the only real way to stimulate the economy is to keep people working NOT fire those who have jobs.
This was a Republican idea, to destroy the public sector and all it has done is increase the economic problems, aside from all the other reasons it is a bad idea.
I'm sure the Rightwing is getting ready to privatize all those jobs, and it's too bad Democrats ever got on board with these Republican wet dreams. They used to fight for jobs, what happened?

(16,038 posts)and paying taxes in the private sector, there is no money to pay the public sector. Everyone is hurting because of the job crisis. As we speak, my state is cutting Medicaid funding for people in nursing homes..cutting to the point of people who need care being unable to find a facility. Medicare is also cutting funding. There are more than enough fiscal shortages to go around. The painful part is the willingness of those in our own parties to continue with policy encouraging the exportation of jobs, and making other countries more attractive for new manufacturing..its sad..the labor party is dead..

(30,733 posts)Has he been too outspoken around Fox with these types of opinions? I know he is a repub, but he seems very egalitarian about his approach to people.

(62,269 posts)I can't imagine why FOX would cancel it (this is the first I'm hearing of it).
Shame it will only be available on Lifetime, I did watch from time to time and they had a good, anti-rape, anti-violence message, that was really great (they never showcased non-violent offenders).

(62,269 posts)I don't think, for example, having police prevents murder, they are generally re-active, against violence and murder, not preventative. Yes there's a weak correlation but generally when there are a lot of police being hired, the teachers are fully staffed and welfare and other social services are intact.
edit: to clarify, the police are generally the last to be laid off out of all social, public, government spending, so by the time you're laying off police, you're already cutting back on teachers, on fire, on public safety, and basic welfare and charity services. That's why I don't think there's a strong correlation there. Given that Walsh is a former police officer I can overlook this, but it's just something that I don't agree with in this message.
Overall it is still a fantastic message, especially coming from someone the conservatives / right wingers listen to, generally.
