(84,711 posts)"9/11"... For a few years "From the Wilderness" & "Mad Cow Productions" and "Media Whores Online" and "Buzzfash" were ALL WE HAD for PROGRESSIVE MEDIA.
It's all NOW...considered "CT Sites" or the sites WENT DOWN...to be BANNED from Progressive Media.
But his "Collapse Video" is worth a watch...because it challenges our minds to think further...and I think that it will hold up many years later.
Might not be "your thing" and I'm a skeptical person...but it was good stuff for it's time.
These days it's all "Revisionist History."
I'm not comfortable with either.
Thanks for your post!

(24,096 posts)I get very uneasy with all this uber labeling of sites as conspiratorial lately. I mean there is a world of difference between Lizard Men in Congress with Panties on their Heads and the kind of stuff Ruppert wrote about but they are all treated the same here lately.

(2,169 posts)RIP Michael Ruppert and thanks for all the work.
He never forgot this country was founded by people that thought for themselves and questioned authority
KoKo
(84,711 posts)..and questioned authority." AS YOU SAY.
yes...that was what he was telling us. And in those dark days of "9/11 Patriot Fervor" where some of us just didn't understand why we should get onboard the Bush/Cheney Bandwagon for "Rah, Rah War and More War" he was there and Questioning. And, many of us "Questioned" but had no where to go because "THEY" were pushing us to war.
He was one of the few who stood up against them. And he's been proven correct...imho.

(62,325 posts)felt betrayed over the past few years, as many of us do. But he was right and so were we. He had courage when so many were afraid.
Those were dark days indeed, but in many ways, I preferred them to where we are today, because back then we had HOPE that the criminals WOULD be brought to justice. Everyone on the left was unified in their condemnation of Bush foreign policies. Today, not so much.
Now, that hope has been obliterated. The criminals walk free while the heroes, like Manning eg, sit in jail.
KoKo
(84,711 posts)I think that that's what the PTB want. Get us so depressed with "inaction" over criminality that we become compliant because we are without hope. There is still hope out there beyond this...small steps...grassroots. I don't think we can see the change because it's subtle...gone underground...not here on the places we've been for years. Well...that's just what I think...And..no way..we should give up. Breaks from time to time so we don't just get crazy depressed. But, not give up... Reorganize..whatever.
But..yeah...it's not easy...

(62,325 posts)victims to be compensated for their suffering, justice would help them more than anything.
I have faith that justice will be done. I look at Latin America where it took 50 years in some cases to finally begin the process of holding their criminals accountable.
War crimes do not go away no matter how hard they try to dismiss them.
I haven't given up, but am truly saddened by some on the Left who appear to have gone over to the dark side, and then I remeind myself, they truly are a minority.
Thanks for all you do to keep the focus on the important issues. Too many are willing to 'look forward', for now.

I liked that it attributed his work. I liked that it didn't make his Death a CT Thing.
Mike had many Demons...but, it never should overcome his Original Posts and Work. I don't want his Death to be forgotten...bogged down in some kind of "Blow Back" of forces against what Mike Ruppert stood for.
For Better or For Worse......Ruppert was a voice that Woke Folks Up! And he stand as a Hero for his "Early Calls." Whether he went "off the rails" at times doesn't discount his BODY OF WORK for us to Parse Through. Whether one is "Committed or Not" to the views he expressed when he was alive!
I don't want his voice to go for "Nothing." ... Because the Prophets are Written on the Subway Walls and in Tenement Walls and the WALLS OF SILENCE. (Simon and Garfunkle in the late 60

In short, they were acts of desperation trying to maintain an unsustainable way of life we all live. A way of life where they rule.

(5,281 posts)This is very sad news. I greatly admired Mr. Ruppert and his tenacity and courage despite what it cost him. He was a truth teller extroadinaire and a true hero of our times.
I was disappointed when he withdrew his interest in 9-11 for the concern about peak oil and collapse because in my view they are intricately related. He however, always tried to help open eyes. He will be missed. Calling all angels.....
KoKo
(84,711 posts)and thanks for understanding what this post was about in honoring Ruppert for what he gave to us.
And, it was significant for getting many to Tune In...to what was going on. I hope he will not be forgotten.

(904 posts)...you told the truth at a very high personal cost: your health, your ability to earn a living, your peace of mind, and now ultimately, your life. You were responsible for some of the best investigative journalism this country has produced (specifically, the From The Wilderness newsletter, Crossing The Rubicon, and others), and you did not sell out your convictions. You left tools for us to use in the continuing struggle against rampant corporatism and consumerism that is destroying our planet as I write this. You left a positive mark on me, and I'm sure millions of others like me who see what's coming, in large part because of your work.
I wish I would have had the opportunity to meet you. Now that I no longer have that chance, I can only say in absentia:
Thank you, Michael C. Ruppert. For Everything.
And Rest in Eternal Peace.
KoKo

(7,167 posts)You spoke for me too. I followed "From the Wilderness" for a number of years, but never read Crossing the Wilderness, although I will in the very near future. Nobody who read Mike Ruppert's writing could fail to be impressed by his courage and integrity.
R.I.P. Michael C. Ruppert - a true American hero.

(904 posts)...because this text is meticulously researched, documented, and sourced. Much of the research was original-source, meaning that he interviewed many of the subjects himself. He makes a very strong case against the Bush Administration for their actions surrounding 9-11, especially Dick Cheney.
He once said, in a seminar he gave (which is up on Youtube), that he felt secure enough about Crossing the Rubicon that he could take it to a DA, and say that he wants to press charges for first-degree murder with special circumstances. Knowing his reputation for dotting his i-s and crossing his t-s, and considering the quality of this work, I would not doubt him.
But don't take my word for it - see for yourself.

I did not know he committed suicide, that is so sad. But who can blame people who tried to warn us about the downfall of this country and who later were called 'conspiracy theorists' despite all the evidence to the contrary?
RIP, Michael, you were a ray of hope in the long, dark days that began the downward slide of this country under one of the most corrupt administrations ever.

(62,325 posts)so badly they often choose to become silent.
I have not read reports of his death yet, I just heard about it on RT from Abby Martin and was shocked and saddened by it.
It's amazing how all the criminals are alive and well and richer than ever. Cheney even has a new heart!!
We LOVE our War and Wall St criminals here and we hate our Whistle Blowers and Journalists.
Something is very wrong here obviously when all the good guys end up in jail or dead while the criminals thrive and are treated like elder statesmen.
I am hopeful that one day the criminals will be held accountable, even if it is after their deaths and that those who tried to tell the truth will be honored.

(7,321 posts)I had a chance meeting with him a number of years ago.. during " From the Wilderness days, lots of things happened, then he left the country went to live in Venezuela, next thing I knew he was in Canada for medical treatment for a serious illness, then recuperating somewhere in New York. Lost track. Didn't know he was in Napa, but I'm glad he was someplace peaceful and beautiful to make his journey to the other side.
Thanks again KoKo..

(84,711 posts)he was a tormented person, for sure.. but...then there are lots of us out here who questioned and were tormented with questions after "9/11" but, didn't have his visibility once he started down his road to inform folks.
I think like all who seek truth...and see things from a Big Picture...another angle...they suffer. Unless they have big backing and power they see often themselves as fighting alone. I wonder if Mike didn't see himself that way and with whatever was in his life he kept fighting against...it just got to be too much. But, he did good when he was up to it. And...what better way to be remembered. And, those of us who know how he was a voice when there were few...send him our good vibes for wherever he is...that he chose to move on to... when it was time for him to move on.
for Mike..

(7,321 posts)My former partner was a researcher and worked with Mike, during the early days when he was still living/working in L.A..
They both were tormented from the same demons. It's going to be hard for some to accept Mike made this final journey on his own, but I have no doubts in this, so very sad to say. I suppose there will be a memorial, will it be in Napa? Keep us posted on those details if you can.
Thanks again..

I am in shock and I am saddened.
I'm listening to his last show after which he killed himself.
I don't know what to say.
RIP, Mr. Ruppert.

UPDATE 1: Here is one of two suicide notes Mike left for the person on whose property he killed himself:

Michael Ruppert left two handwritten notes, one of which was a very personal note to his girlfriend/life partner and is a personal letter that will not be shared, at least not any time in the near future. Miller stresses the letter,
contained clear statements confessing his impending suicide.
The second note was written to Jack Martin, the friend with which Michael was staying at the time of his death and here for you to see
...
UPDATE 2: Email from Mike asking his friend to get the sherriff and then come to the "blue and white GMC"...
