Husband on kissing congressman: ‘He has wrecked my life’

Posted by
CNN's Chris Frates and Curt Devine

(CNN) –The husband of the woman caught making out with Rep. Vance McAllister said the Louisiana Republican destroyed his life and marriage.

“I’m just freaking devastated by the whole deal, man. I loved my wife so much. I cannot believe this. I cannot freaking believe it. I feel like I’m going to wake up here in a minute and this is all going to be a bad nightmare,” Heath Peacock told CNN Tuesday.

On Monday, The Ouachita Citizen in West Monroe, Louisiana, published a surveillance video it says shows McAllister and his scheduler, Melissa Hixon Peacock, passionately kissing in his office last December.

Heath Peacock said he didn’t know about the episode until Melissa called him a couple hours before the news broke.

Loving someone doesn't mean you have to prove it by putting up with their lies and betrayals.

And how does this have to do with his masculinity? Because he's airing his feelings in public?

And....what "lies"?

If someone I love does something wrong then:

(A) I would spend some time with them to find out what happened, how it happened, why it happened, and whether the relationship is worth salvaging, and

(B) wouldn't be talking to the national press.

Their marriage was likely shit in the first place if he's on that kind of hair trigger.

And if being able to accept that people have flaws, make mistakes, and can work through difficulties is "putting up with", then I wish you well in any relationship with anyone human.

It's pretty easy to conceive that someone can get caught up in being away a lot and spending a lot of time in heady places and events with a powerful figure and having things get out of control.

It can happen, and it's why people who might not think they need to do so should set some basic rules and keep to them when they are away from their spouse.

If its worth loving someone, then it's worth trying to see if things can be worked out. If one thinks the person you love is never going to disappoint, then one is likely in for a very disappointing life.

And you can't know if his marriage was shit, and not everyone is going to do what YOU would do. Doesn't mean they don't love the person they were with because they don't follow YOUR prescribed rules. And I have no issues with 'flaws' but I do have a huge issue with cheaters. It's a deal breaker and every relationship I've been in, I've been very upfront about that. Every relationship has their deal breaker. It doesn't mean you 'don't put up with flaws' and can't have relationships. What crap.

And I am not about to define what love is for other people, nor dictate how they are supposed to feel.

Some people bursting with love would break up.

Some people with little regard for each other would stay together.

And none of it is my call.

Roy_Rolling posted the story when the video was released: http://www.democraticunderground.com/1017185742#post12

This video is from a newspaper that endorsed the other candidate in the election. The other candidate was the anointed candidate by Bobby Jindal and the entire Republican establishment who thought they could pull a fast one by getting retiring Congressman Alexander a cushy job in state government if he would step aside and they could elect their chosen candidate.

When the northern Louisiana voters smelled a rat they backed McAllister instead of having a Republican crony shoved down their throats.

As bad as this guy is, he is actually better than the hand-picked Jindal candidate, who the Republican cartel thought they could install by removing the previous congressman.

It's the cheating wife's fault, not the congressman's. As one that has been cheated on I know there's little that is more devastating but the right person has to be blamed. It's her responsibility to walk away from that, whether it costs her job or not.
