Always Low-morals Wal-Mart helped kill Trayvon Martin.

According to Thom Hartmann, Wal-Mart used it's position in the extreme right-wing lobbying group ALEC to get this "stand-your-ground" law passed. See, Wal-Mart is the biggest seller of guns in America. But they don't want the liability that comes from selling guns to someone who might use a gun to kill an innocent man.

With this cold-blooded murder allowed by Wal-Mart's "stand-your-ground" law, they are accessories. They were standing with Zimmerman as he pulled the trigger. I encourage people to continue to boycott this immoral corporation that continues to harm Americans in every way possible. Tell them to get out of our government.

Illinois had one since 1961. (720 ILCS 5/) Criminal Code of 1961 There are 31 other states that have the same or similar laws. The Supreme Court first used the phase "Stand your ground" in 1895. Beard v. U.S. ,158 U.S. 550 (1895)

it ties the hands of law enforcement. Presumes innocence. Sounds like nothing could be done by the police with Zimmerman.

Wal-Marts sell handguns (the category of firearm most applicable to stand your ground situations).

Epic fail for Hartmann and anyone whom is misled by his nonsense.

But it appears Walmart does not sell handguns outside of Alaska. Or at least that's what a perusal of the internet would indicate.

Did you know that Wal-Mart sells machine guns?...

No... it's true.

Anyone with the cash and desire to purchase one of these instruments of mayhem, can walk into any one of the thousands of Wal-Marts across the country and become the proud owner of an NFA regulated firearm

Oh snap... the pinhead done went and made his clever little video "private".

Apparently all the scoffing, ridicule and snickering was more than he could handle.

to know what the facts are behind whether Walmart lobbied for syg laws.

If they did do so, I sincerely doubt they did it in the name of increasing freedom or protecting the rights of US citizens. Which would leave the question of why.

If they didn't, then the whole thing is false, and it was really silly of Hartman to say it.

I didn't conduct a deep Google search (it's not that important to me), but this is the closest related matter I could find...

We want to know why major U.S. corporations support ALEC, which, working with the National Rifle Association, helped write and promote around the country the law that might allow Trayvon Martin's killer to go free. So on Monday morning, Republic Report, along with Color of Change, the Center for Media and Democracy, and Van Jones' organization, Rebuild the Dream, sent those companies a letter asking them to stop supporting and financing ALEC.

Many people believe that the large amounts of money that ALEC pours into state legislation hurt ordinary Americans on economic issues like workers rights, health, consumer protection, and the environment. People also are concerned about the effect on our democracy of ALEC's expensive amplifiers drowning out other voices in the debate. But you might also wonder why ALEC is dominating state legislative battles on issues like the right to vote and the use of lethal weapons. And although many of you won't be surprised that Koch Industries supports ALEC, you might ask why so many other major U.S. corporations like Wal-Mart, Kraft, AT&T, UPS, ExxonMobil, and State Farm sit on ALEC's Private Enterprise Board, and help fund these controversial efforts

http://www.alec.org/about-alec/private-enterprise-board/

If that's Hartman's reasoning... then there are a whole lot more corporations guilty of "guilt by association".

Are any of the other corporations as easy to name, see, and boycott though?

Its a problem. There do not seem to be many if any corporations who are free of these kinds of ties. Its nearly impossible to participate in modern American life without supporting them.

"were standing with Zimmerman as he pulled the trigger".

It's false and disingenuous to hold Wal-Mart accountable and/or liable for wrongful deaths attributable to
misinterpretations or abuse of SYG laws.

It's false and disingenuous to suggest that Wal-Mart stood to make any profit from supporting SYG laws.

If Wal-Mart did indeed lobby for and support SYG legislation (all we have to go on is the reporting of one
biased blogger), then bravo for them.

At least they've demonstrated that they can be of some useful function sometimes.
