What can you tell me about Governor Susana Martinez of New Mexico?

I'm reading where she could be the next 'Sarah Palin' of the GOP party. She's attractive but she's also both female and Hispanic - two groups where the GOP is lagging badly in the polls. I mean she is republican but is she as bad as Palin (smarts wise?)

until the teabagger is replaced.

Is that enough for you, LynnSin?

I love Albuquerque and Santa Fe but can't visit them when there's a roach in the Governor's Mansion in Santa Fe.

This is true: The beauty of Santa Fe is what made my aunt come with her students yearly (before she retired) from Denver to educate them on New Mexico history.

I had to visit for myself about 10 years ago, and was simply stunned and awed by the beauty. We will TRY to visit it this year.

I just hope she hasn't damaged New Mexico much.

After finding out an error on ALEC alumni list - Ed Perlmutter has confirmed that he is NOT an ALEC member (Democratic representative of my nearby district)

When women vote, the majority vote democratic. That's not going to change anytime soon.

Yes, there are a few very small exceptions to the rule. But it changes nothing.

5. So far, she's been pretty good for a Repuke

She has her law degree, is a former prosecutor and a former Dem. She is anti-choice and anti-gay marriage/domestic partnership, but has not asked any Repukes in the Legislature to introduce bills of these types. She is against illegal immigrants getting NM state driver's licenses, but then so are most New Mexicans. She only laid-off about 50 state workers, when the Repuke rabble was calling for her to lay-off thousands of state workers. She found money in the State's budget to give state workers a raise this year.

Thus far she has not been a demagogue. She graciously greeted President Obama when he landed in Roswell last week. She has managed to balance the budget that Richardson left $500 billion in the red.

P.S. I voted for her Dem opponent(added to stave off attempts to label me as a Repuke troll.)

needs to be considered a teabagger and removed outright.

Unless she starts re-identifying herself as a Democrat, she has no future in politics.

And even if she converts back, it will take a minimum of 8 years before the disgust of the Republicanism is gone before I can barely trust her.

Yes, I'm that harsh. My uncle is a Rush Republican, and married my aunt that I mentioned above - and they were polar opposites ideologically, but they still loved each other. (My aunt died in 2002 of ovarian cancer)

Strange thing about my uncle - he's an union man. Worked for GE. Retired about 20 years ago... (or less)

She really has been pretty moderate. She doesn't seem to go out her way to antagonize Democrats.
She did underfund the Medical Marijuana Program when she first came in, but I think she has backed off that when she saw how much public support the program had.
New Mexico is the most working class place I have ever lived. With the exception of Santa Fe, you don't really get a feel of "class" in New Mexico. And, therefore, I don't think you have a populace that is tolerant of extremism or wingnuttery.
I do think she beat Denish simply due to Richardson fatigue. People of all political stripes here were pretty offended by his jet purchase and the general suspicion of cronyism.
