Former 'Survivor' contestant running for Indiana Governor (Libertarian)

Rupert Boneham, 'Survivor' Star, Nominated As Third Party Candidate In Indiana Governor's Race

INDIANAPOLIS -- Former reality TV star Rupert Boneham said he thinks he has a real shot at becoming Indiana's next governor after being nominated as a third-party choice Saturday.

The fan favorite from 2004's "Survivor: All-Stars" was unopposed for the Libertarian Party's nomination, which came during the party's state convention in Indianapolis.

"My aim, honestly, is to win governor," Boneham said in a phone interview afterward. "I really feel I have a strong chance of pulling not just the Libertarian vote, but the independent vote, the undecided vote, and maybe even some votes from Democrats and Republicans."

He will face Republican Mike Pence and Democrat John Gregg in November's gubernatorial election. Current Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels is limited to two terms and cannot run again.

Well I've always liked the guy (although I would never vote for him - he's running as a libertarian). But who knows, if he can run a successful campaign perhaps he could pull some votes away from the Republican and help democrat John Gregg win in November. That would be nice.

As far as Rupert goes, I doubt he make much of a difference in the race. The libertarian in the 2008 gubernatorial election received 57,000 votes. I don't see Rupert getting much more than that.

Boneham may help in siphoning votes. ANYBODY but Pence. He's about as reactionary as they come.

I thought Jerri and Ethan were going to strangle him after that first night in the hut and they had to sleep in there during a massive downpour.

I agree, I would not vote for him but judging from how he was on the show and his charitable efforts since, maybe he actuaally has a chance.
