Zimmerman: 1 death; Bales: 17 deaths: Wars in Iraq and Afghanistan: 1,000,000 + deaths

The murder of Trayvon is horrible. The shooting spree of Bales is hard to imagine. But the wars, the ongoing wars, make these outrageous incidents pale in comparison. The wars have always been and continue to be the main issue with me.
I'm certainly not making light of the problems with SYG, or PTSSyndrome, but I will say, again and again: END THE WARS!
The mood of this country has become numb to death and suffering. We, as taxpayers, fund the wars. We as voters must end the madness. If a young black male can be gunned down and garner so much outrage, what of the 1,000,000 we, as a nation, have killed?

Bales is a troubled man with too much BS combat duty. But every day, even as we type, innocent people are being killed
by our insane policies overseas.
Outrage is justified about Trayvon. I just want to know why we are not equally outraged every day about how many died because of US.

Assaulting a girl friend, hit and run accident, scammed some people out of their life savings.

And then, when mad at his military leaders, instead of shooting THEM, he shot Afghan KIDS!

No, Bales is as bad as Zimmerman.

I find it manipulative, dismissive, and totally unacceptable.

I've been against the wars since before they started. I thought 9/11 was an inside job from the start, but try to talk about that in any forum but the 9/11 dungeon and "poof" goes that thread... And I haven't read many critical thinkers in that dungeon just attacks. I hope the Occupy movement takes all of this on in a meaningful way that exposes the corruption of Bankers, Government officials, and law enforcement. I go to see "Who Bombed Judi Bari?" tomorrow, and have been wondering if I should wear my Veterans for Peace T-shirt under or over my Hoodie.

Peace, and many blessings,

The soldier who did the mass shooting has been arrested, and will be put on trial. You act as though nobody has right to talk about anything else, but WAR. You just can't stand that a black kid, that may have been the victim of a hate crime, is getting so much attention, so now you're pretending to care about the wars, to get people to change the subject, and talk about something else. The Righties do the same thing. I didn’t notice hardly any people here running to Rush Limbaugh’s defense when he called Sandra Fluke a slut, and then tried to get people to stop talking about Sandra Fluke, and focus on the wars, instead. And you have been on another thread defending George Zimmerman. I’m not falling for your bullshit.

I'd like to see what you are talking about. Thank you.

I am not sure what you are talking about about defending Rush, please clarify. Thank you.

Reading your other post, I think you are saying someone or ones on DU are calling people who want Zimmerman arrested an "irrational mob" yet "These same people had no problem when there was a mob who wanted Rush Limbaugh fired for calling Sandra Fluke a slut." Are you saying that it some here say it is ok to be an irrational mob sometimes but not others?

my guess is that you're seeing this reaction because people relate to it. Many of us live in suburbs where such a thing can easily happen and we're shocked not only by Zimmerman's (alleged) actions, but also by the fallout (racism) we're seeing in response. Race is very much still an issue in this country and this case has amplified it.

Should we be paying attention to the millions of folks killed by the Imperialists raging for resources all over the globe? You bet we should, but we won't because people feel removed from it, and dare I say they have been conditioned to the violence?

I give you props for trying though - and I do agree with you. K&R for your OP.

It's not just about Trayvon. It's about institutional racism. Trayvon is not the first black man to be gunned down for no reason, and I for one am glad that the nation is paying attention (this time).
