Does Louisiana have a lot of Vietnamese Buddhists? (Q about Pastor Terry's rant)

The pro-Santorum rant by pastor Dennis Terry seemed to have particular ire for Buddhists that I couldn't figure out at first. Then I remembered that there is a large Vietnamese population in Louisiana, and I wondered if maybe many of them are Buddhists and this was a swipe at them.

Maybe someone can help me here.

1. I thought

the Vietnamese community in New Orleans was predominately Catholic.

2. They are.

There are a good many Vietnamese here in Biloxi and some other coastal towns as well. They have a Buddhist temple here in town, but there are a few different Catholic churches that serve them. I was told once that about 80% of Vietnamese are Catholic; I don't know if that figure is accurate, but Catholics definitely make up the majority.

3. I just can't relate to these people. NOOOO, "YOU' get out. I don't think these preachers know

a damn thing about the Christian religion other than to use it as a tool to incite their decisiveness against others.

4. He did say "if you don't love America, if you don't like the way we do things, GET OUT!"

And I could very well pivot from that to say: "Yes, if don't like the way Obama is running the country, GET OUT!"

We have troops in the field! No criticism of the Commander in Chief!

5. Some. There are many Vietnamese immigrants in the saefood industry.

Some are Buddhist certainly. But what impressed me is his lack of understanding about what one actually does in various religions. Buddha is not a deity and isn't worshipped. Allah and Jehovah are the same god. I thought preachers these days had at least a little seminary. Or maybe he knows full well and is just in full on Elmer Gantry mode.
