"I'm unarmed, I'm on the ground. I don't know why my face has to look like this,"

Hikers Claim Police Responsible For Beating On Trail
Men End Up At Hospital With Injuries

A hike above Honolulu ends with a trip to the emergency room for an Oahu man. He claims during a hike with a friend Honolulu, police officers beat him up.

-----------------

"Halfway down the trail, six cops with machine guns said 'Get down on the ground,' so I got down on the ground. And my head got smashed into a rock a couple of times," said Helm.

So over the next two hours the men were marched down the trail, questioned and arrested.

Then, suddenly, they were let go with little explanation from officers.

"It's a case of wrong place, wrong time," said Wellins. "They said, 'We're letting you go now, but you're still considered suspects.'" said Wellins.

Police did take the men to the emergency room where Helms was examined for a concussion and treated for his injuries.

-----------------

"I'm unarmed, I'm on the ground. I don't know why my face has to look like this," said Helms.

-------------------------

Meanwhile, HPD officers are still searching for the real suspects in that Palolo burglary.

2. His face looks like that because "These assholes always get away."

Just ask George Zimmerman. Apparently Hawaii cops think along the same lines.

4. "Meanwhile, HPD officers are still searching for the real suspects in that Palolo burglary. "

Which raises the question - if someone else wasn't in custody, why did the HPD change their minds? What information did they have at that point they hadn't had when they first confronted the hikers?

7. Hawaiian law enforcement has a seriously brutish side

and will close ranks quicker than NYPD.
