I thought I would tune into NBC and catch some Olympics, the were showing snowboarding and the announcers sounded like they had never covered a winter event before. Cured me from the Olympics!

Commentary has sucked for a very long time..

The "modern" Olympics is little more than a compendium of sugary-sweet "up close & personal" vignettes of USA athletes (usually only the tip-top ones)..artfully positioned around jingoistic commercials..

Once upon a time, long long ago, the events included a lot more actual sports, and a whole lot less of the commentary.

I look forward to the figure skating competition and I LOVED watching the 17th place couple compete as much as the "top 6".

It's so ironic too, because now we have HUNDREDS of channels, but the actual coverage sucks.

When I was younger, we used to set an alarm so we could wake up to see an event that was on LIVE in the middle of the night

I would be glad to mute a few commercials to watch
I gave up cable years ago and now abc, fox and nbc thinks they are cable too.
