(20,600 posts)If not, where are you, and is there a military base close by. Maybe there is some kind of army exercise going on.

(9,494 posts)I was out with the dogs cleaning the yard and it started like a freight train in the sky. They were unmarked but not hiding.
Maybe Chris Christie is going to lunch in New York!

(20,600 posts)Black helicopters that are unmarked actually do exist, it is not a myth. Most people think its a myth, but it isn't. You can google it to see photos of them, they are used for various things, from the military, to surveillance, to law enforcement.
Walk away
(9,494 posts)and flew back my way but a bit north so I missed their return. It must be some kind of Super Bowl security thing.

(9,461 posts)all the major law enforcement agencies. There was an episode of Border Patrol where they showed the practice exercise in Miami prior to the Super Bowl. Oddly, the guy who plays the bad guy pilot of the suspicious airplane has done it for several years. During the Super Bowl they had a real incident, there was a small airplane flying into the no-fly zone who wouldn't respond to radio. It ended up being some guy who wasn't aware his flight path crossed into the no-fly zone, It made for some pretty cool tv.

(65,616 posts)The number of black helicopters is always different, but the rest is almost exactly the same narrative.

(20,600 posts)so if someone says they see black helicopters, it often is a joke that is referring to these things.

(9,494 posts)I just dropped one of my dogs off at the groomer and I had to drive past the Hilton in Lyndhurst. Not only did I see more helicopters but seven hazmat trucks went speeding past me with lights flashing and sirens screaming. I think I'm going to stay home until the Super Bowl is OVER!

(65,616 posts)Maybe some type of harmful leak or spill from an accident and the government was involved in, (car wreck) is all I can think of.

There is always state and local security issues in this area but this year the Feds are out in force. There must be some credible threats.

(10,942 posts)The black helicopters may be for the assbaggers. They will run to their basements and put on their foil caps before curling into a fetal position in a corner.

(1,210 posts)Two cows are standing on top of a hill. One cow turns to the other cow and says: "Are you worried about mad cow disease?"
The other cow looks puzzled: "Why? I'm a helicopter."

Just so you don't freak out, we'll be flying out again to pick up GBTV and 700 Club viewers.

(30,247 posts)I work in Jersey City on the waterfront (smack across the river from the WTC). There's a Hyatt down the block literally on the water, as they're on a pier. The Bronco's are staying there. The security is pretty intense. They don't want another Boston marathon type event.

(26,324 posts)A couple years ago, I drove past the McCormick Place convention center here in Chicago and saw a fleet of helicopters in the parking lot.
My first thought was "some sort of show?"
Duh! The President was in town.
I tried my best to make it back in time to get caught in the traffic jam that was anticipated when they closed Lake Shore Drive on his departure. I wanted to see Marine 1 take off. But I just missed it.

(50,553 posts)I assume there's a reason they couldn't have saved the poor oppressed taxpayer a few thousand dollars for fuel and pulled aircraft from the 82nd Aviation Brigade at Fort Bragg or the 10th Aviation Brigade at Fort Drum.
I know what would REALLY be cool...have some infantry guys rappel out of a Blackhawk with the game ball. Could they legally hover over the stadium long enough to execute the mission?
