Fla. gets C-minus in corruptibility assessment

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) - Florida gets a grade of C-minus but ties for 18th best with three other states in a first-of-its-kind assessment of corruptibility.

The State Integrity Investigation report that was released Monday praises Florida's open-records and open-meetings "sunshine" laws.

It faults the state, though, for weak regulation of lobbyists and toothless ethics enforcement for public officials.

Also cited are high fees that in some cases prevent citizens from getting to see those open records.

I am shocked that Florida got this high of a grade.

that this grade is only for the laws that the respective states have on the books - not for what manages to slip through the cracks.

Florida is the corruption capital of the nation, where even a presidential election can be stolen. We can teach New Orleans AND Chicago tricks that will leave them running from the room screaming! Who else would make a someone who comitted record amounts of Medicare fraud the governor?
