Ezra Klein leaving WaPo

So smart and so articulate.

-snip-
A report earlier this month indicated that Klein was planning an exit from the Post after he failed to win support from the newspaper's higher-ups for a website dedicated to a range of different topics.

In a memo that was obtained by Poynter, senior editor Tracy Grant told staffers that Klein is "looking to start his own news organization, an ambition that befits someone with uncommon gifts of perception and analysis."

Klein did not immediately respond to TPM's request for comment.

Since arriving at the Post in 2009 at the age of 24, Klein helped turn the newspaper's Wonkblog into a hugely successful online platform.

The memo also indicated that Melissa Bell and Dylan Matthews, who were also involved in Wonkblog, will be leaving with Klein.

6. Yes, exactly 'he's leaving an organization that is far more to the right' you should have stopped

there. It was a perfect for him actually.

I remember him when he was playing 'just another commenter' on a liberal blog. Out of hundreds of commenters he always seemed to get the attention of those who ran the place. People wondered why, he was certainly not particularly liberal or even interesting for that matter. I probably never would have noticed him had there not been a huge effort to 'push' him and to go after anyone who dared to disagree with him. It was extraordinary considering how many great liberal commenters there were on the blog.

But then we found out. And it all made sense.

3. Is it time for my semi-annual I hate Ezra Klein and everything he stands for?

He is a cancer on the republic. I'm sure he may be nice, but what he represents makes this country suck.

5. Never liked him, knew he was being 'groomed' to speak for the Third Way, didn't even know he was

still around. I remember when he was just another commenter on a 'liberal' blog, or that's what we were led to believe. Saw how he was singled out from all the other ordinary people who had far, far better ideas and back then, wondered about it. Why was this not-so-interesting commenter getting all this attention from those who had influence on that blog?

Now we know.

7. Ezra always seemed very intelligent to me...

...which is rare amongst most of the talking heads on TV. I appreciate his perspective on economic issues. He is not as partisan as some would like.
