(149,593 posts)Oh boy, you really put your finger on it.
What you've said distills what we need to do right down to the essence of it.
I miss him too, damn it.

(68,644 posts)His impression is lasting, his energy remains.
That's my personal take on karma/reincarnation/afterlife/whatever.
You live forever if you make a difference, and it doesn't matter that people know you by name, if you've save a life, or a soul, or a plant, or given even a minute to listen to a person in distress, you've created a legacy.
MFM lived for making people smile and, at other times, making them think, but there was always love.
He contributed more and more toward the end, until he couldn't any more.
That's an amazing person, right there.
We are blessed, even still, with middlefingermom's energy.

(70,684 posts)and I guess you've found the secret of Life, which is to compartmentalize/specialize (TEND YOUR GARDEN), with which I have difficulty. I've always appreciated your grandness of comprehension. Thank you for that. And I really don't dislike Rug.

I see your posts from time to time in the lounge, but do not frequent that group.
Glad to know that you are well and hope you had a good holiday season.
I am tending my garden in Mexico and it's wonderful. I will never go back to the cold again.
Thank you for your kind words. As always, tu es muy amable.

Anyway, I dedicated this to you and the "R" person in the Lounge. He's too smart for me but I sense what you two have.

I don't visit the Lounge often...so didn't know anything about him. That picture alone shows a wonderful high-spirited guy who knew how to laugh and have some fun! Sorry I missed him.

(21,046 posts)I make the clerks laugh in the store. Hubby and I practically have a stand up routine. We live in the country and when we have to drive to a larger town to buy stuff, the clerks love to see us.
I tell the checkers at wallyworld, "Don't work too hard. Get your rest." and they laugh and appreciate the sympathetic noises.
Before the holier-than-thou crowd gets on my case, I live 150 miles from the nearest Whole Foods so it's not like I can bop there for groceries.
I don't have choices in where to shop. So goes most of rural America.
No local butcher shops, no local bakeries, no farmers' market that I can find within 25 miles. Yeah, I can find a meat shop that sells jerky and deer meat. I am not interested in those.
