OK, now I'm kidding, it's funny, but I recall recently that conservatives were talking about a third party candidate for that very understated reason.

They think Romney's a dyed in the wool left wing liberal, Gingrich sat next to Nancy Pelosi on climate change, and Santorum voted for the bridge to nowhere. For a while, the GOP was searching for someone who couldn't possibly survive in a political atmosphere. They wanted someone like the character Glenn Beck played on TV.

Every potential right wing nutcake fell through, from Bachmann to Cain, and the search continued.
