Damage from a tornado that touched down in the Washtenaw community of Dexter included tops of homes sheared off, splintered wood strewn across lawns and gaping holes in homes where the twister ripped off walls.

The images, from WDIV-Channel 4, showed the widespread destruction along one block of wood-frame multistory structures that stretched blocks. Across the street from the damaged row of houses, the block of homes appeared unscathed.

Another twister was spotted off of Interstate 75 in Monroe around 7 p.m.

Weather spotters reported a tornado touchdown north of Dexter in Washtenaw County at 5:31 p.m. on Thursday afternoon.
