Went to see Dickens "a Christmas Carol" Friday night. Suddenly realized Scrooge walks among us still

Mittens suggests that cutting food stamps and welfare dramatically won't harm the poor.
Gingrich suggests poor kids clean school bathrooms as part of price of admission.
Limpballs suggests we quit giving free meals in schools to the poor.

"Are there no prisons? Are there no poor houses?"

when told that sadly, yes, there were but some families would rather die than go there Scrooge replied
"If they would rather die then they best get on and do it to reduce the surplus population."

Where are our angels? Where are the ghosts of past, present and future to shame and change these modern Scrooges - if not to make them into decent caring humans beings, at least shame them into slithering back under thier rocks.
