Why isn't Rush gone by now? This isn't just another Rush whine but some serious questions.

Think about Imus and how fast he was yanked for his comment. Remember REAL TIME and how that show was yanked because Bill Maher basically spoke the truth to the country (maybe too soon).

We see more than 54 companies pull ads from Rush's show. We have seen organizations requesting their PSAs not be heard on his show.

There is dead air during his breaks. YET Clear Channel (That is the company that has Rush's show)or who owns his show has not even spoken about the event.

We have the Republician party split on this issue. I have heard Republicans speak out about this man's comments and some who are basically being silent because they either think the same way or just don't care.

So my questions are : How much power does Rush Actually hold in the republican party? Is he seriously some sort of King maker or power behind the throne? Who does Rush Answer too? Does he answer to anyone?

Shouldn't we be asking HOW this man who is in a sense an entertainer has gotten this much power?

Shouldn't we demand or petition the owners of his show to either take responsibility for his actions or do the responsible thing and take him off the air?

This man goes after people who are not in the public eye and enjoys hurting people. Not just the Sandra Flukes of the moment BUT I've had to listen to him interact with his callers.

Just one reason . . .

I think Americans for Prosperity is one of the show's biggest sponsors, too. You know, the Koch Bros? The bottom line is that Rush truly IS the head and voice of the Republican Party. And that may be one reason he's still there even with all the backlash against him.

and it's as true at a propaganda ministry as it is elsewhere. What will likely happen next is that local stations will start dropping Fatso. When enough of them have dropped the show because playing organ music during all the dead air does nothing for their bottom line, the lawyers will miraculously find an "out" that saves CC the balance of his contract payments while allowing him to go right to Sirius, which seems to be the dumping ground for misbehaving shock jocks.

It's over. It's just going to happen in a slow fizzle instead of a bang unless he flames out while he's on the air. He's fragile enough to do just that, too.

He has upset people who don't listen to him. Because his advertisers seek business from both those who listen to him and those that don't, they made the economically rational decision to bail on Rush (there are a lot more people who don't listen to rush than that do). But for the radio station that carries Rush, they have a lot of listeners who listen not only to rush, but to other programs on their stations and they don't want to run the risk of alienating the loyal rush listeners so that they abandon the station and its other programs. So they leave rush on, since even if he isn't drawing in ad bucks for his show, keeping him on keeps the ad revenue flowing to their other shows.

Break 1, Hillsdale College, Grasshopper Mower, Lifelock, Constant Contact, Pro Foot Insoles, Local Houseflipping ad.

Break 2, Local car dealer ad, Local Golf equipment sale ad, station Ad, local bottled water ad, station ad.

Break 3, Lifelock, Lear Capital, Station Ad, PSA

Break 4, Lifelock, Pro Foot Insoles, A national ad I don't remember, Station Ad

By station ad, I mean the radio station is doing a plug for its own sports coverage, etc.

As I understand it, the national ads go to him/his broadcasting company...and the sweetener that gets local stations to carry him is the lure of letting them air and profit from the local ads. So the show needs both to succeed.

From where I'm standing, there may be more station ads than usual; but, nothing devastating like what was reported in the LA market yesterday (I'm in Kansas). I am obviously in a much smaller market, so I don't know how meaningful my research is; but it seems like he will stay on the air in Topeka (the local advertisers seem unaffected).

When this is discussed I think of The Thomas vs Anita Hill debate. It was billed as a race issue - and keeping Thomas out. But it was more about sexism.
