Neighbor's chilling account of how woman shot baby

Central Illinois town grapples in aftermath of what police call murder-suicide of family of 5

December 18, 2011

EMINGTON, Ill. — First came five gunshots, which Annelise Fiedler knew immediately were too loud for toys.

Fiedler walked out of her home and saw her neighbor Sara McMeen standing over a baby on the ground.

"I asked her, 'Is everything all right?'" Fiedler recalled Saturday. "She said, 'No, everything is not all right.'"

Then McMeen did the unthinkable, Fiedler said.

"She put the gun to the baby and she shot it."

"Good Reads," I believe, replaces the former Editorials and Opinions forum. If every post on a current event that involved quoting excerpts from a news story had to go there, it would be totally weird.

There is alot of god, church and hosana in that article. I didn't read about anyone exclaiming "...and I hope to Darwin...."

I meant where did the previous poster's idea come from, because as you said, the article certainly had no reference to evolution.

I'll go change the lightbulb hanging over my head now.

You are, of course, right. Of course from a species point of view, the survival of one subline is not of primary importance, but I get the point.

Senseless tragedy - unless of course there is more to the story. Perhaps some bank had pushed them to the wall.....

somebody lost a job, foreclosure, etc.

In a more stable economy, even marginal people could keep an even keel for most of their lives.
