CA Gov Has A Heart

Jerry Brown shows compassion for woman caught up in the sex trade.

Story at this link:

http://www.mail.com/news/politics/2421694-calif-gov-allows-freedom-to-woman-who-killed-pimp.html#.7518-stage-hero1-10http://

I've always adored Jerry Brown and defended him against all comers. Used to live in CA for quite a few years until the fires - not earthquakes - prompted my departure. If every state in the Union had a governor like him, we'd all be a lot better off. I'm often reminded of something Howard Dean said - that anyone who let the GOP handle the public's $ is a fool.

2. Well, in my haste this morning I failed to give credit to Lee's new law as well.

But I'll never forget Jerry Brown providing advanced communication technology to Cesar Chavez' farm workers union to help them coordinate statewide. Made the farmers madder than a bunch of wet hens.

My then-husband was connected with a major farmer's organization and let me tell you, those people had to have the infamous short-handled hoes pried away from them. They had the most adversarial relationship with their workers imaginable. One time I was dragged over to meet a particularly nasty couple that I later learned had ties to the klan, and they pressed a huge amount of honey on us. When the wife found out later that I'd given a lot of it to the first worker I saw, she exploded. Not just because I'd passed along some of the largesse, but because of who received it. "THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO WITH SOMETHING LIKE THAT!" I remember her screaming. I said, "Well, I figured they'd do the same as anybody else - eat it."

That and the fact that they all knew I loved Jerry Brown made me very unpopular with that crowd - which pleased me immensely. If they'd approved of me, I might've shot myself in utter horror.

4. Why not? Doesn't sound like they'd be unimportant, and I love San Diego too.

But not Pete Wilson. I think he was born there or lived there or for some reason is associated with the town in my mind. Or what's left of it. My mind, that is.

Yup, that simple. But last night on FB there were a lot of congrats and virtual champagne bottles opened and emptied. (Burp). I did not know virtual alcohol could give you a head ache.

As for virtual champagne, my friend, it all depends on the quality. Go for the good stuff, it's not really that much more expensive.

He certainly has his backers, but a little closer examination produces a vicious fascist.
I am ashamed to have ever backed that moron. I do mean moron. Listen to his idiotic ramblings on
that crooked radio show Pacifica supplanted Mama O'Shea's brilliantly talented work with.
Absolute darkness replacing light personified.
The dude is scum.. SCUM.
I have pictures of him hugging me during his 76 campaign.
someday they will be burned.

the number two state for cigarette smoking, the number one state for lung cancer?
bunch of dented up late model vehicles blasting smoke out of their tailpipes as they honk at bicyclists?
I'll leave as soon as my dying mother finishes the job.
Hope thats good enough.

I am much closer than Dainbramaged would ever want me to be!
Kentucky bluegrass? You mean that mess of weeds, poison oak and wild strawberries that makes up their lawns?
Kentucky is giving Texas one hell of a run.

I could literally cry for joy to see Secretariat run. Most beautiful thing I ever saw, and in the Belmont he was still picking up speed at the finish line. Nobody ever found out completely how fast he could run when he wanted to.

Except I had a fine little mare one inch over pony size, and she could've run even Secretariat into the ground at anything over 2 miles. One time only I got to feel her absolute top speed was when a crop duster pilot friend of mine agreed to fly low overhead so she'd have something to chase that she couldn't catch. She screamed in rage when he pulled away; she'd already dropped before then and I mistakenly thought she'd reached her limit. But when that happened she dropped a little more and really took off. Never been on a faster horse, and I've done my share. Reason I know she could've taken Secretariat at 2+ miles is because I once let her run pretty much full out for 3 miles before it seemed necessary to make her slow down.

But then Sunshine was not an Americanized faux-Arabian at all. I don't like the big Russian or Polish lines. To be authentic and capable of anything useful except (ugh!) halter class, they need an unbroken bloodline straight back to the desert.

Tell your Mom I said hello.

Jerry has brought California back from the living dead twice and that includes public education which is still recovering.

p.s. the internet can be a strange place IA but you probably knew that. . .

to keep from being so isolated in RedNeckLand. Otherwise I could never have stood to retire here, and I really had no other viable options. Maine used to be very affordable, but that was back in my salad years. When I was searching for a last home, I found a place in Calais where a lot of my ancestors settled after fleeing Ireland, and a simple small home carried higher property taxes than monthly rent did back then. I tell people I'm too poor to rent almost anywhere, and it's true. My economic security rests mainly on paying cash up front for almost everything, especially real estate. In rural RedNeckLand, my property tax on a hundred-year-old fixer runs $184 annually. They seem to take the age of the house into account also, because several years ago when almost everyone got an increase, my cost dropped from $220. So even with very slow renovations, I can avoid debt. Nothing in the world terrifies me much worse than the idea of personal debt.
