Retort with the Con Party or Cons or The Cons. Afterall, it just short hand for conservative. No harm meant by it.

(15,438 posts)And they are a bunch of low-life con men trying to take this country down for their moneyed Con masters.

(8,311 posts)I love the "You can't have manslaughter without laughter!" shirt...

(15,438 posts)Because Republicans aren't even remotely conservative anymore, although they do enjoy conning their supporters, corporate media, and most a-political people to believe they still are.

(8,311 posts)They're shooting themselves in the foot, and it's funny to watch. They have no understanding of grammar, they don't even mean it as an insult I don't think.
But yes, anytime they pull the "rat" stupidity, I bring up "con" and suggest they aren't so childish.

(15,438 posts)He's doing that less and less these days, but in the beginning, he was clearly saying "Dimmocrat" when referring to Democrats. And having listened to how he pronounces other words that are similar, it has nothing to do with his accent.

(8,311 posts)I have chosen to bury my head in the sand of blissful ignorance of the cable news networks. I haven't owned a TV for years, and my roommate doesn't have cable. I stream the Daily Show, if there's a major news event I can find a livestream somewhere. I don't eat nearly as many Tums anymore.
I would like to find a collection of some of the Sunday morning talking head shows to stream weekly, but those were really the only political ones I liked to watch.

(82,383 posts)That's not the way he'd say it (though there might be other accents that would allow for it - Maryland maybe).

(15,438 posts)I don't see how he can misspeak "Democrat" the way he does with Southern accents of either states.

(8,311 posts)Or criticizing anyone. I just love the manslaughter and laughter thing, so when I saw it come up, it was fun. There's also Congress v Progress, which had been appropriate recently, too.
I only say "pin" and "pen" differently because of being lectured over and over again about it in my childhood, and it's a conscious effort. "The pin is not mightier than the sword" was said a lot, just like "Do you sof-ten your hands as you do dishes?"

(4,490 posts)Do they actually intentionally say that as an attempt at being disrespectful? I always thought it was an educational or intelligence issue, so I try to simplify what I'm saying to them :-P

(3,469 posts)I would love to see every Democratic politician and spokesperson stop using Republican and start using tea party all the time. I wouldn't differentiate between the t.p. caucus members or the so-called "moderates" just completely change the name of the party. They went to bed with them, let them own it. Or let them deny it...that might be even more fun.
