I know Boehner's worse. But when has calling somebody a crybaby changed a mind? When someone calls you a liberal crybaby, do you go, "Oh, you're right, I guess I'll change my position"? Or do you dig in? (I dig in.)

So it's annoying, unhelpful, counterproductive, uninformative and likely alienating the people we need to move. Big, big waste of money. Other than that, it's not so bad. Just kidding, it sucks ass.

which is why it is perfect. You don't think they combed through LOTS of footage to hit that balance? By the way, it's being annoying will cause some to come back into the room with the TV during commercial break to specifically figure out what this is about.

Based on that, I'd say this is targeted at a more female demographic despite being during a football game.

i started wondering what s/he was crying about? maybe separation anxiety when mom left the room? maybe a cherished cuddle blanket was lost or taken away? maybe s/he wasn't feeling good or was starting to run a fever. or is overly tired. the ad creates sympathy for the baby.

and, like another poster said, i wondered why the baby was being filmed instead of comforted.

i think it completely misses the intended mark.

why not show clips of bohner's crying jags? his drunken crying jags? or come up with another idea that doesn't create such sympathy or mental distraction that overshadows the entire point of the ad?

This is too much like republican nastiness. It will cause sympathy for the orange guy.

You know how their heads work: a bunch of Democrats are making this baby suffer to make a commercial!

The baby in the ad is too small to cast as a brat. At that size, no matter what they want or need, it can be overwhelming and they haven't any way to express pain, tired, fevered, unhappiness other than by crying. It's hard not to worry what's making him cry and people who aren't into politics may or may not know about Boner's crying jags so it's not even very funny, in my opinion.

Put the sound of the baby crying with Post 78 by Prosense: (the collage of pictures of the orange man really crying) - now THAT's funny -

But I guess that expressive crying baby captures the audience and gets the idea across perfectly.

Sure. I love it. You love it. But there is a history of this kind of negative, personal attack creating sympathy for the target.

Instead, let Elizabeth Warren explain what's going on. She's on a roll and turns a phrase better than anyone we've got right now.

"there, I'm acting just like you! Now go to your rooms and I'll go to mine."

The ad is mean and hateful, just like the GOP.

Counterproductive, inflammatory and substance-free. A trifecta of fail. This does not make us look like the adults here.

It's red meat to our side but R's and I's will say, "That's all you've got? Name-calling?"

If I ran an ad agency, I would have never let this turd out the door.

This is a great ad for rowdy football fans! Should cut right through chatter and make them pay attention just in time for the mocking of Boehner. I read all these comments about how loooong it goes on, but I didn't think it was long at all. Particularly because it's just long enough for people to stop talking and see what it is, and by then, the voiceover kicks in.

Then again, I'm a mom who never felt a tinge of sympathy for my kids when they were fake crying for something I told them they couldn't have. When they were hurt? Sure. But otherwise, I never felt they needed comfort for whiny fears. So I don't watch this and feel I need to comfort.

Like I said, I think by the time viewers stop to see what the ad is, the Boehner tuff starts. I think there's good potential for it to be effective.
