A government shutdown will suck

But we must hope that our Democratic political leaders hold tight and do the right thing.

No deals. No clever word games. No "practical, common sense changes to government that both parties can agree on."

Nothing. Nothing. Nothing.

We are here thanks to 20+ years of appeasing a band of desperados, thugs, idiots and lunatics. As in all other known cases of appeasing people with awful intent... well, here we are.

It must stop, or else it will only get even worse.

The end.

1. Same principle as refusing to negotiate with terrorists.

It just encourages them.

The only way to stop it is to let the fever grow until it breaks.

11. I don't think we'll have a shutdown...

I think Obama has a good hand and when the time comes, he'll show it.

I started thinking about Nancy Pelosi not being there tonight - she would have stuck pins in anybody that voted for that delay amendment, or worse, and it didn't make sense to me. They needed her, unless they didn't.

They are leaving it up to the Senate and the President. No way that bill could have left the house tonight if everyone had stuck to their guns.

Our Dems weren't traitors. We were played.

Find effective talking points and buzzwords, stick with them if
they resonate, and hammer away at them relentlessly.

WE WILL NOT BE MANIPULATED.

THE REPUBLICANS IN CONGRESS ARE PLACING THEIR

THE REPUBLICANS IN CONGRESS ARE WILLING TO

THE REPUBLICANS IN CONGRESS ARE MAKING A FARCE

THE REPUBLICANS IN CONGRESS ARE NOT BARGAINING IN

Take your pick Dems, and hammer away already !!!!

Addendum: Obama should stop saying "We will not compromise."
It's a poor choice of words because it makes it seem as though he and
the dems are the ones who are stubborn. Put the blame where it belongs.

18. We've been here before.

Clinton won the showdown with the Republicans in 1995, and the Republicans held a much stronger hand back then. They had both the House and Senate and the sense of a mandate after winning the 1994 elections in crushing fashion.

Here the GOP has only one branch of Congress, and by any measure lost the last election. This shutdown will be their fault, and we have to make sure the public knows it.

19. That "nothing" part is critical

Obama's "compromised" with Repubs before, and it just taught them to hold us hostage again, at the earliest opportunity. Although a shutdown would suck, prolonging the pain for the next time, and the next, would suck more, but it would also kind of leave the GOP viewed as a viable party, capable of governing - which is lightyears from the truth. And having seen the sequester, I think it's quite likely they'll go ahead with this.

Actually, if the GOP did abandon the shutdown, the crazy would would have a cow about not stopping the ACA, and they would raise hell (and challengers) about it. The House almost has no choice but to allow the shutdown since they egged their base on so much with comparisons between the ACA and Hitler.

So, basically, the GOP is a festering infection in the U.S. government. Allowing is to rot and go gangrene is just to to prolong and amplify the pain. Time to amputate.

20. PBO either personally or via DNC/WH spokesperson needs to hammer away the theme of NO NEGOTIATIONS..

The dumbass Republicans paid for this tactic years ago, and they will pay again. We need to make sure it's crystal clear in the public's minds that negotiation happened during the passage of the PPACA, and that this is completely unacceptable.

21. I'm not sure what you mean when you say "no compromise"

If, for example, the GOP demands lower discretionary spending, I don't think agreeing to that in the CR would be the end of the world (though the lack of a budget any time in the future makes that riskier).

22. Conservatives are selfish, nasty, regressive people that infiltrate politics like parasites.

Like other parasites, they see the body, (or society) as an all you can eat buffet. The budget to them is nothing more than a collection of nutrients to suck dry without regard to the health of the population (body) that needs those nutrients to survive.

They lack the capacity to care about the health of the population or the body they infect even as it withers and dies.
Their only concern is feeding the cells of their collective parasitic body of ".01% worm segments" that are sucking all the resources in a feeding frenzy that is leaving the healthy cells (or general population) anemic, sickly and withering on the very few nutrients left.

As unhealthy as they have made us, this latest attack seeks to devour even more, if the body dies to fatten them, they will die also, but can not see that because that is the blind nature of a parasitic organism

Of course they resort to extortion, they do not seek to negotiate in good faith to devour less of the host they infect.
Parasites will often dine on the body, country, or world until everything is dead including themselves.

Parasites never will (in truth never can) be concerned with the life of the whole but only with they can consume for themselves,

One does not bargain with a parasite because to them you are merely food.
One does not feed parasites because they will continue to eat more until they eat you as well.
One does not welcome a parasite and cheer it on as it sucks the life from you.
And it must be said that one does not introduce more parasites into one's body and call them "allies" in a big tent

We need to rid ourselves of the parasites if possible or find methods to impede their ability to suck our body dry of the nutrients we all need to survive

These parasites have infected our world, our country, an entire party, sadly even a large portion of our party leadership disguised as healthy cells (they are NOT), and even our discussions here in some instances.

If the parasites wish to attempt to kill the host by shutting our organs down with this ploy, helping them will only aid their one obsessive goal of sucking us dry.

Our party mustn't feed the parasites in the hopes they will let allow some nutrients past their mouths and into our system in a futile attempt to survive their infestation by bargaining. Our party must stop thinking that further emaciation is a "reasonable compromise", or a "pragmatic solution".

The only way to survive such parasites is to poison them, not to attempt to negotiate with them how much of your body they will consume, because they will never stop, not until there is nothing left to feast on.

23. Exactly. But why do I get the feeling Obama will be only too eager to give in and make a deal

with these republican terrorists, a deal that will end up harming the poor and most vulnerable.

What a change that would be, if Obama instead stood firm for once, and it was the republicans who had to "give in".

30. This is going to annoy people..

.. as the truth often does. Obama's ridiculous over-willingness to "compromise" with these fuckers is a large factor in leading us to where we are now.

He's given in time and again, and the Repugs expect him to give in again.

If he folds this time, he will truly go down in history as one of the most ineffectual presidents of all time. The ball is in his court. He cannot BUDGE ONE FREAKING INCH or this shit will reappear on STEROIDS.

Maybe it's worked out well for you, but it's been an utter catastrophe for 99% of us.

Many of us think it's time to try the real-world solution that's actually been proven to work evert time it's been tried:

Tough. Liberalism.

Enough with the Vichy Democrats. It's a failed ideology.
