The first time was on DU1 as FlyingSquirrel (no space) - I used the occasion to remember Molly Ivins.
This time around, I think I'll give a shout-out to Warren DeMontague, whose sole complaint about DU is the lack of DUzy awards.
Can it only be a coincidence that he made this comment on the same day I reached 1,000 posts?
Only time will tell... but I'm gonna give teh DUzy awards one more try.
Gawd help us all.

Ghost in the Machine
(14,912 posts)passed. Someone revived them earlier this year, but I don't think they lasted two months.
I myself had taken over for JeffR for a while, with his full blessings, of course. I still have the original files, complete with <HTML> codes and all, saved to a disc.
I loved doing them even though they were time consuming, but being disabled and unable to work, I have nothing but time on my hands. I lasted about 4 1/2 to 5 months, but viewership and comments seemed to dwindle with each passing week. I attributed that to the fact that I'm not one of the most popular of the posters here, due to some of my stances and beliefs... ones that I will not waiver on just to be "popular", so I passed the torch on to someone else who was more popular and well received than myself. It was even my idea of asking Skinner about making the username "DUzy Awards", and just posting something like "Congratulations, this post has won you a DUzy Award!", but someone took it further, made the username, and posted the DUzies under that name. This was probably over two years after I has made my original suggestion.
As I stated above, though, the DUzy Awards were started again, but lasted only about a month or two. The person doing them then posted a poll asking whether they should continue or not, and I believe most people responded that they were a thing of the past, to be remembered fondly, but it was time to let them die. I voted to keep them, as the two biggest things I looked forward to were the DUzy Awards and the LOLcats, superbly done by SalmonChantedEvening every Sunday morning in The DU Lounge. I would strongly urge ANYONE who hasn't seen them to visit the Lounge on Sunday mornings. After all the usual bickering, in-fighting and general craziness that goes on all week here, SalmonChantedEvening's weekly edition of LOLCats is a wonderful way to start, or in some cases end, your week with some of the BEST LAUGHS on DU....
Peace within, Peace between, Peace among...

And did you mean DU2? Because DU1 was "before July 2003" and when it went to DU2 they lost half their archives. There were, however, many changes to DU2 before the bigger move to DU3. (by which I mean there have sorta been more than 3 DUs).
