Every Single Republic Initiative In Congress Pushes Xianity Down Our Throats

That's it. That's what's behind every initiative, every amendment, every bill they pass - the attempt to make Christianity a de facto law of the land.

When is the media going to point this out?

The media needs to start saying that the Constitution is about freedom FROM religion, as well as freedom of religion.

The networks hire pretty faces these days - or people with big mouths - not reporters who actually know the facts about what they're discussing.

Edit: typo

3. The short answer? I don't think make believe should form the basis of laws

that effect the real lives of real people.

9. Shorter answer, you calling it "make believe" shows intolerance and bias which also affects people.

10. Yep. I'm intolerant of people having the conceit that their make believe

has to be taken as having a shred of truth to it by the rest of us.

You can expect your beliefs to be respected in the circle jerk that's called Xianity, but that's where it ends.

The Constitution says we should respect a person's right to believe what they will. It doesn't say that we have to respect the beliefs themselves. If that were true, then every political argument in this country would need to end with the words, "but there's truth to what you're saying."

I hope my intolerance affects people enough to realize that they're putting a whole lotta trust in make believe, and that they'll dump their religious make believe and move on to a more rational view of this life.

11. All you have is a ready excuse for your anger and intolerance.

And apparently no respect for either beliefs or other people that you don't share.
You just shout "make believe" and go on the attack.
At least you have a practiced excuse, only hope one day you realize that's all that it is.
I expected nothing from you, only saw your log in just now.
That's the problem with your presumptions, it leads to to prejudgment and hostility.

And it's a make-believe that is historically famous for pushing its beliefs upon others by force.

You fail in this discussion. Spectacularly.

As for your failure, it's called prejudice.
Atheism is fine, Anti-theism is prejudice.
BTW, I only posted here, I forced nothing on you.
Now make believe that existence just happened, sheer chance, nothing else.
Try not to be violent in your faith of nothing, please... we don't need any more Stalins.

That I regard fairy tales as fairy tales and say so does nothing to prevent people who want to believe in them from believing in them. One must tolerate and live with all sorts of fools, including the religiously delusional. I have no problem doing so but I do wish that the smarter ones would do some hard thinking about the content of and reasons for their beliefs, unsupported as they are by extrinsic evidence.

As Richard Dawkins so eloquently put it, people today are atheists as to the countless gods of past cultures and we modern atheists just take it one god further.

Call what you don't believe a prejudicial name, then pronounce judgment.
As for Dawkins, I heard enough about his right wing loyalties and anti-feminism to know better to invoke him on anything.
You're just another little mortal being, strutting around on this world, thinking you know it all.
I at least admit I live by faith, you just stumble in the dark and call people names.

Thu Mar 1, 2012, 08:46 PM

1.)To insert "Christian Principles" into law (translation: keep women subservient and gays out of public life)

and

2.) To institute policies that will ensure CHEAP LABOR for CEO's to maximize their salaries (er, profits)

It's just getting fucking obvious these days.

As long as you are kept busy fighting for your most basic rights and freedoms, you won't notice what the media owners (like Bain and GE) are doing to screw over the nation and dodge taxes.

The media will never be your friend. They are the 1%

I think it is very false.

Did they vote to end medicare as we know it to push Christianity "down our throats"?

Did they vote to give big tax cuts to rich people to push Christianity "down our throats"?

Also, if the media reported your false story, that might actually help Republicans, since most voters consider themselves to be Christians.

17. I think it's a certain type of Christianity
Sat Mar 3, 2012, 03:30 PM

Not the selfless Sermon On The Mount type of Christianity. The mega church Evangelical kind that teaches that free enterprise is Godliness, where serving God means making as much money as you can and that God smiles on the rich and that taxing them is against God. It's the type of Christianity that teaches that God only helps those who help themselves and so medicare or other programs that help our fellow man are against God. In other words, the type of Christianity you can hear preached by millionaire preachers who wouldn't associate with the poor or the sick to save their lives.
